Foxfold Posted June 20, 2020 Report Posted June 20, 2020 With my saw being out of action I decided to work with my router. I belong to a group of routers and so many of them use MDF that I thought I'd give it a try. Well, I must admit it's not for me. It's like cutting paper. There's no resistance to the blade at all, it cuts through like a hot knife through butter. The dust is awful, although thankfully I have a dust system that has proved it's worth with this piece and a mask that won't let anything get to me. I'm not sure why anyone would 'carve' this stuff for a living although I know that it's the wood of choice for many. I've decided I'm a dyed in the wool ''wood' cutter amazingkevin, meflick, don watson and 2 others 5 Quote
don watson Posted June 21, 2020 Report Posted June 21, 2020 Nicely made piece there Brenda. I have yet to try it on the CNC router/milling machine but I will try it. Foxfold 1 Quote
wombatie Posted June 22, 2020 Report Posted June 22, 2020 You did a great job Brenda. I don't like cutting MDF either. Marg Foxfold 1 Quote
amazingkevin Posted June 24, 2020 Report Posted June 24, 2020 I love cutting and finishing MDF but the dust is atrocious and keeps me away from it.my friend had a warehouse full of 1/2" x12" x12" pieces from a job as left over free but I only took a small stack.you did real good with it . It stains and paint great!!! Quote
