  3. HI Jay and welcome to the Village from Fife. You will learn all you need to know here, just ask and remember there are no stupid questions. don watson
  4. Outstanding piece of work very well made. I would love to have a fraction of your skills. don w
  5. I have used a product that my daughter found on Amazon. It is short lengths of Velcro about 2" long that are sticky backed and I stick one (sometimes 2) on the wall and the other sticks on the back of the art wall piece. It then sticks up on the wall and easily removed. You could also sell it with the velcro to recoup that expense. I will have a look and see if I can help. don w EDIT I have had a look at Amazon UK and in Home and Kitchen I entered wall hanging velcro. This brought up what I have used.
  6. I have made up much the same setup and it works well. I am sorry I had to give up for so long (almost 2 years) but am slowly getting back in to the scroll saw with help from a good friend. Hope you get back soon. don watson
  7. I don't know what these pieces would sell for as I have not sold any. I did enquire at the local chess club but they were not interested as they can only use the 'Staunton' pattern. Individual members may be interested but it would need to be on a one to one basis. Sorry I can't be more help. don w
  8. I bought the Axminster saw AP535SS a couple of years ago but I bought the stand CODE:501271 Axminster Professional Scroll Saw Stand at the same time and I am glad I did. The machine sits at the right height and angle for me sitting in front of it. Sorry I can't really help but I would try for the Axminster stand if it is possible. Good luck. don watson
  9. Thanks Scrappile I am already lost to the dark side and am waiting on a new laser cutting/engraving machine to be delivered. I have a friend from the Kirkcaldy Men's Shed comes to visit on a Thursday and at the moment we have decided to build a model wooden fishing boat that we have plans for. don w
  10. Thanks Marg, I am glad to get some time outside now. I have a new laser cutting/engraving machine on order so I hope to get to grips with that soon. don
  11. Wonderful choice of pieces. I like the Venetian set very much. I cut the Kings for the San Francisco set and the Canterbury set just as an experiment to see how it would go, of course I then had to make a clamp set to hold the pieces etc. It was a very start and I may get back to it someday. I think I cut the White pieces of the Canterbury set but never found any wood to suit and then illness caught up but I am determined to get back to it. As I said, a very nicely crafted set Well done. don watson
  12. Thank you all for your welcome. I still have a lot of off days but I can only battle on. Thanks again. don watson
  13. Hello All, It's Don Watson from Fife, Scotland and I'm back. I have had some problems but am getting back to working on a scrollsaw. I have the Axminster machine and it is a big beast that demands to be used. Hope to join in again, albeit very slowly. I have just received an email from Travis and I am glad I am still remembered here, in fact I have received a second mail from Travis welcoming me back as I am not a robot. As I said it has been a difficult journey back to some health and I can get out to the workshop now. I had my friend from Kirkcaldy up this morning to tidy the workshop and dump a lot of the rubbish. He managed to site the scroll saw in an ideal position and make a table for the Laser engraving/cutting machine that I hope to receive in the next couple of weeks, something new to learn at 86 years old ?? I hope to catch up with you all soon. regards don watson
  14. Welcome back Brenda, you were missed.
  15. Welcome from Fife. Looking forward to seeing some of your work.
  16. Excellent piece.
  17. I am bringing this back to life as I have an interest in doing some inlay work. @young ned, did you find any suppliers in the UK for wood. ?? I have been looking at Hobbies.co.uk as it seems to be the only spot I can find and it supplies mostly 1/4" thick (6mm) materials. Is there anyone else can help ? Don W
  18. Loads of great work there, Thanks for showing.
  19. Magnificent piece of work. Well done.
  20. 30 seconds in the microwave should see the hot glue ease off.
  21. Thanks for the offer, I have it all sorted now and it is a joy to work with. I thought I was happy with what I was using but this is a different level, this saw is GREAT.
  22. More great work from a master. Well done.
  23. I am thinking of making/cutting a Chess Set. The set I really like is the San Francisco Set so I cut the King for this from 1 and a half inch (1 1/2") square Oak yesterday. It turned out ok and I will now have a look for some suitable woods to make up the 32 pieces needed. This King is about 4 1/2" high.
  24. Just bin them. You won't miss what you don't have.
