  1. Glad to have you back Brenda you were missed. I also prefer the patterns in grey with red lines.
  2. + 1 for what John B just said, if a question has been answered the way I would have answered then I don't usually butt in. I have been heavily involved in setting up the new 'Kirkcaldy Men's Shed' and it is opening on the 21st May 2022. Quite a bit to do yet but we will get there. I will then need to see how many new members are interested in scroll saw, pyrography and wood turning and get programmes set up for them.
  3. Nicely done and a great subject. Thanks for the inspiration.
  4. Thanks for this Ray, you have started something. My only experiences with super glue have been fairly unsuccessful and I have only managed to glue my fingers together (probably more often than I have glued projects). My fingers stuck fairly rapidly and I was told it was because the fingers had sweat/moisture on them that worked as an accelerator.Go figure. Don W
  5. Welcome Don from Fife, Scotland. Don W
  6. Thanks Ray, your last line says it all, " The best part of this experience is the lesson learned."
  7. Hi from Fife. The village will explain very well how to get on with the scroll saw. I would say everything you want/need can be found on here.
  8. Thanks Ray I can see the pic in all it's glory. Very nice indeed, shame about the bleeding but a very nice piece just the same. Don W
  9. Ray, the pics I see are the teeniest pics known to man, I can't see a thing except for a tiny coloured square ??
  10. Great work as usual Kevin. Keep them coming.
  11. Love them all but for me the parrots are the winner. Very clever cutting and painting involved in this and a lot of thought working it all out. I must try this some day when I have time. I also love the chrysanths, I think it is because you have used colour that is making me think of copying this idea and I am sure I mentioned before when you did the WIP demo I would like to make/copy these. Don W
  12. Great piece of work, very well executed. The backer is an inspiration I will keep this one in mind.
  13. Another stunning piece Kevin. Lisa will shure love this piece.
  14. Well done Kevin, glad to see you back where you belong.
  15. Glad to hear from you Alex.Stay safe and pray this war is over soon.
  16. Hi Everyone, Can I just say what a pleasure it is to visit the Village on a (nearly) daily basis. I NEVER fail to leave without something learned or a new pattern to try. It always cheers me up when I am at a low and I count some of you on here as Personal Friends (you know who you are). I am 83 years old this year and I still feel like a visit here is a School Day. Thank you all for having me and listening to all my woes and problems that I have met and made. take care and stay safe. Don W
  17. Great model, well done. Thanks for the information.
  18. Nice delicate work there. Well done.
  19. Very nicely done.
  20. Even if the Rand is at 21 to the GBP my saw was only R1050 and even today that would be about the correct price for a Lidl or Aldi saw. I think at the bottom end " you pays your money and you takes your chance". Import duty etc. is another bone of contention that we have to live with.
  21. The description states that it is a Sheppach sroll saw. I have an Aldi scroll saw (for quite a few years now) and the plate on it says "Sheppach" and I know of various "brands" of saw that all use the same "Sheppach" generic build. I paid around £50 for my machine and that was a few years ago but I reckon you get get one for around £60 brand new from Aldi or Lidl. Sorry I can't help with monetary conversion but these are cheap machines. take care and stay safe Don W EDIT If you right click on the image you have there and choose "Open in New Tab" and then Right click on that image again and choose "Search Image with Google Lens" it will bring up pictures of similar/same machines. Hope this helps. BTW I use mostly Olson blades and think they are very good.
  22. You made a fine tribute there. Well done.
  23. Very nice indeed.
  24. I am definitely not taking part in this challenge anytime soon. lol
