  1. I'm with Octoolguy (RAY) here. The majority of stuff I make is given away. I will make pieces to order but the price will indicate whether I like doing it or not. I reckon friends and family have more pens, baskets and intarsia pieces than they can cope with. I will concentrate on (prbably) animal jigsaw puzzles for my great-grand-children and pieces I can make for the Men's Shed as they can (and do) supply a lot of wood etc. and my pieces sell well at open days, spring fairs et c.
  2. Nicely made. A lovely piece of work.
  3. I think it looks good to have one each left and right hand at the opposite ends of a dresser or sideboard.
  4. Very nice indeed. I love making these baskets. I like that they can have a right or left hand twist as you build them up.
  5. Good work there. Well done with those pieces but don't forget the exercises.
  6. Thanks for this Gonzo, I have the same problem getting a clock to run but will go back occasionally and try again> Someday .....?
  7. Really great looking pieces, well done.
  8. Excellent work.
  9. Nicely done and I like the wood thickness too.
  10. Ray, as far as I see this there is a problem with the mail in S.A. I think one solution would be blades in a birthday card but their mail system is very suspect ??, of course she could have multiple birthdays if we do that. I don't know of the courier services in S.A. so we will wait and see if Loskoppie has any suggestions. I don't know if they have Amazon out there either as that could be an easier way to get things. ??
  11. I know some of the private courier guys in the UK are totally useless and there has been a lot of rebranding of names recently but the service still sucks. That said there must be some regular courier who operates world wide that can deliver a parcel safely to an address in Pretoria, South Africa. !!? I will have a look at tool suppliers in this country and see what I can find.
  12. I was wondering if we in the UK could possibly send you blades without the import duty etc. that would be involved, much like a birthday gift or something like that. I could try here and see if anything can be set up if you wish. Will need to find out how the system works so Ray may be able to help me. EDIT Is Amazon an option ??
  13. 'Whatever floats your boat' as the saying goes. Anything goes in your work. I think of it as just Segmentation, using different woods and different stains it depends on what you want and so much better when it all works out ok.
  14. You both certainly brush up well. Nice photo and the frame does make it a very pretty picture. Well done both.
  15. Please, this is a double post. The original post was in Pattern Requests and I have mucked up somehow. I have (I think) got it sorted now I did get in contact with Bruce and purchased the 2 patterns I wanted. But did get some very sad news as well.
  16. Thanks Don, I will order the pattern/s nowI would also like some of the Dragons (large). Don W
  17. Can anyone tell me who made this pattern. I like it and would like to cut a couple for my great grand children. Thanks for looking
  18. That is a real beauty. Very well done. Where do you source your Walrus Oil ?? hope no animals were hurt lol
  19. Another good bowl nicely made. The glue ups are usually the sticky part (pardon the pun) with and I usually use the white glue or sometimes Titebond.
  20. Lovely basket. I find the gluing up a bit tedious.
  21. Welcome back Iggy. Glad to hear your wife has recovered to full fitness again.
  22. Thanks Denny. I will stick with plywood when I can get some.
  23. My biggest problem is finding the best/correct materials to cut them from. I have problems getting 1/4" (5 - 6 mm) plywood and wondered if mdf was a substitute ?? but I don't really like using mdf.
  24. Well done, a great friend that. Some good looking pieces of timber there.
  25. Well done with that bowl. I think it is the simplest of his designs and goes together really well if you take a little care. I use mine to hold sweets and visitors love it. You have a nice finish on it as well. I don't usually give mine a spray coat to finish. Very nicely done.
