Devin Wilson Posted August 2, 2020 Report Posted August 2, 2020 (edited) Selling my 2 RBI Hawks. I’m located in Central Florida Lake Placid to be exact. Not wanting to ship pickup only. The G4 works good just pops blades to easy most likely need to have the clamps replaced runs fine may need some work on the tension arm is bent some which may be causing the blade popping issue. The 226 VS works good doesn’t pop blades often but the variable speed is acting up and causes it to surge like. Read you can solder a new control on or send to Bushton to replace. Otherwise works good. Just don’t have the time to go through them and happy with the Dewalt saws I have. Any questions please ask. Edited September 22, 2021 by Devin Wilson OCtoolguy 1 Quote

OCtoolguy Posted July 22, 2021 Report Posted July 22, 2021 I can't believe you still have these saws. My suggestion, sell separately. I sold my used 226 Ultra for $550. Quote
new2woodwrk Posted July 22, 2021 Report Posted July 22, 2021 I would have considered them, but not being technically/mechanically inclined the fault issues are over my comfort zone to fix OCtoolguy 1 Quote
kmmcrafts Posted July 22, 2021 Report Posted July 22, 2021 Those G426's are nice saws... While I'm too far away to consider these, it'd be nice to see the bent tension lever that is most likely causing the blades to pop. There is also a very small set screw to adjust the cam lever that IF it gets out of adjustment will cause the same issue. Another thing that causes this issue is the wedge at the back of the saw, That wedge should be very pointed to the point it's almost sharp.. If that edge is rounded over then it will also pop blades. All said and done if the parts are worn each part is a $20 or less part, replace them all for $60 or so and take all the questionable issues away, lol. That saw that hunts the speed.. Not sure how old it is or if it has the problematic motor.. That may or may not be repairable for the average do it yourselfer. It can also be dust inside the control box.. I have one of the old saws that has the problematic motor and it did that when I first got it.. taking the control box cover off and blowing it out fixed it, thankfully.. Not many parts are shared between these two saws so it's not really worth keeping the one for parts for the G4. If I was close I'd buy the pair and then try to blow the dust out the control box to make work correctly.. and possibly sell it ( If it is fixed ) for the price you get them both for. Spend the money on a couple parts for the G4 and have you a basically free $1500 saw. If you cannot get the speed hunting fixed on the one then it's still sellable to someone for cheap to recoup the cost of the parts for the other, LOL My guess is though, if the lever is bent, That is the issue.. Hawks are fussy about correct tension, especially the 26" saws.. Those long 30" or so arms are bound to make some blade flex going up and down when the power is only driving the lower arm. Tension has to be set perfect or you'll snap blades. OCtoolguy and new2woodwrk 2 Quote

If it were near me, I'd buy them both and fix up what needed fixing and resell them at a profit. I know Kevin would do the same. new2woodwrk and kmmcrafts 2 Quote

Yeah, thanks for the encouragement but doesn't sound like a project I want to take on. Buying things in need of repair is outside my comfort zone no matter what it is - I was in I.T. for over 30 years and never purchased a single computer or peripheral in need of repair and I knew what I was doing LOL (I used to build them from scratch). You'll never grow with that thinking. You took on scrolling with no prior knowledge and it worked out. I'd not be afraid of these saws unless neither was in working condition. They both work but need some help. new2woodwrk 1 Quote
Devin Wilson Posted September 15, 2021 Author Report Posted September 15, 2021 Ok update guys still have the saws. I will be coming to Tennessee the weekend of October 9th. If anyone between Central Florida and Tennessee wants both of these saws lets try to work something out. OCtoolguy 1 Quote

I wrote and told him of your offer. If you want to PM me your phone number, I'll pass it along to him. I'm not sure at this point if he is interested but I thought if he could call you, it might work out for both of you. kmmcrafts 1 Quote
kmmcrafts Posted September 23, 2021 Report Posted September 23, 2021 Hard to believe that you can't sell these.. but then I've had my Hawk for sale for 3-4 weeks and not but one person inquired and only asked if it was available.. LOL I don't honestly care if it sells or not. Problem is in my area saws don't sell to well.. and too many people see a old used saw for the same $$ or more than they can go to Home Depot and buy a new one for.. I totally understand that as I was there a few years ago myself.. Takes the right person to "know" what these quality saws are and their ruggedness to understand that value as apposed to the cheap China made new saw they're buying new. OCtoolguy 1 Quote
