Dragonkort Posted November 14, 2020 Report Posted November 14, 2020 its been awhile since i was last on, not sure if thats a good thing or a bad thing since i seem to have a problem staying on topic but i have not been idle.... im very busy working on all my crafts as christmas is comming ever closer and even after all these years and my telling people it takes time to make things i still have people asking if i can make this or that gift for them. lol at this point im having to tell people i will try to get there gift done on time but no promises....its first come first serve. spike says im just to nice espicaly since im making everything for free....i dont think you can ever be to nice though and after having to take a 2 year break from crafting this is a good way to get back into the swing of things and work my way up to more complex things.. any way here are the wood projects im working on right now.... the stack of people cut outs are going to be paper dolls what you do is cut out the bodies with heavy cardboard or ....i did wood and then you cut out the body ,hair and other facial featers out of felt and glue that to the wood making the paper dolls stronger so they will last longer.. then you cut out the cloths in felt and use velcrow or snaps on the cloths and the dolls to attatch the cloths to the body so you can change the cloths just like with regular paper dolls....i always loved playing with paper dolls but eventualy after so much play paper tends to tear. this way they dont. i have several different paper doll patterns to make from felt and cloth and such. i like this one the best. dont know if you would want to see the finished project since everything else will be made from felt. the cut out circles are layered snakes im making... im making 2 then in front of those are the snakes faace tail mouth and such... the rest of the stuff are compound cuts im making , there just waiting for me to do the carving on them before i paint them and makig what ever i decde to make out them. now that the table is free i hope to get some carving done on my dragon house sign and some work done on my knob and fairy houses. im also working on learning how to use my cnc machine. theres a man on face book who is talking to me live on face book and teaching me how to use it... and we have the math problem figured out to....with the cnc machine you use digital caliper to make sure everything is measured excect. that will be a great help!!! i can see me using it for scrolling and maybe even some of my other crafts. he also told me about using the metric system...and making sure i use the metric system with my cnc machine as its easer...when he was explinging the numbers to me using the metric system it was actually making some sense to me so im hopeful that in time i will be able to actually use my cnc machine and then later my 3 d printer....so things are looking up. inbetween all that i managed to get in a 3 day visit with my friend from travis city. OH and im making progress with my vertial aquiume...ritia my friend whos moving in april gave me a small aquram she had in her attic and all the stuff to go with it ( i could actually use it for real fish but spike says i have enough animals lol ) so i dont have to worry about making an aquriam....although i am still going to work on trying to find a way to make one that dosnt cost to much so i can make a vertial aquiam that if people are interesting in them i could put on ebay to sell....she also giave me a layered land turtle to start me off with... but i havent figured out a way to fit land and water life in the aquirem, but thats ok as she also gave me a little plastic small animal cage which i hid in the woodshop. IF i have enough room on the table im putting the aquirem on i'll put the layered land turtle in that and put it next to the aquriam. i will just have to make a small water and food dish for it...not sure what else should go in with a land turtle but i'll look on google to see if i can get some ideas.... i already have some fish made for the aqurium will get to work on the sea turtles as soon as i can...i have a small compound cut land turtle im going to cut out and hopefuly change the feet into fins....im also going to cut one out to put in with the layered turtle my friend gave me. so although im not here much right now i am still working on the crafts when ever i can and right now i need to go make some more plarn as pastor brought me some more plastic bags...will make a point of comming on this evening to look at all your wounderful wood crafts all of you are an insperation for me and give me the courage to fight the anxity when i try to do more complex things with my scrolling....oh and spike set up my miter? saw the other day so i can start sliceing my tree branches into disks so i can make things out of them too.... i will try to keep my commets short when i look at all your wounderful things!! not sure how well that will go considering how long this post is but i will try amazingkevin 1 Quote
amazingkevin Posted November 15, 2020 Report Posted November 15, 2020 No rest for the wicked!!! Did you ever hollow out the tree trunks? Quote
Dragonkort Posted November 16, 2020 Author Report Posted November 16, 2020 lol now see here who said i was wicked! lol no i havnet got them h sollowed out just yet.....i do have one in the grage im hoping i can eventuly get spike to cut it in half for me so i can start making a couple planters out of them but first i have to make a thing to hold the log to keep it from moving when we cut it in half.... i saw a picture of a thing that the log sits in so it dosnt move when cutting it in half but unfrountly it didnt have a pattern....and i dont really do to good if i dont have a pattern of some kind....once we figure out how to cut the log in half i will start hollowing them out...i did find a websight that told how to do that....basicaly you take your drill and a hole bit and then make several drill holes in the log and after that you take your chisles and a hammor and us those to sort of cut out those areas and just keep doing that until the log is eventuly hollowed out. then sand the inside to make it smooth...if im lucky my small sander will fit inside....but it could take a long time befor spike gets around to cutting the log in half...im half thinking about waiting for him to go somewhere and then getting the chain saw out and trying to cut it in half myself....but iv never used a chain saw before so im searching on line to see if i can find a pattern for the thing i saw the logs resting in on that one sight....so far iv found lots of pictures of logs sitting in the support thing but no pattern for how to make it. grrrr but at least he got my miter saw out and i was able to cut some disks from some of the branches i have here in the wood shop. im also looking through my patterns and on line for a cradle to make for a doll. believe it or not but i still have one of my dolls ( my favorite one) from when i was a little girl...shes old and hair is all gone....and somewhere along the way she lost her legs and feet and she has little holes in her face where my brothers used her as a target for throughing darts but shes still here and i still love her dearly lol now that the kids are all gone i dont have to keep her locked in the bedroom lol so shes going to get a cradle to lie in here in the livingroom with the little doll i found for her and i made a nightgown for her doll with the same materal dollys night gown is made out of and the crocheted bottles i made for her, one white for milk and one orange for orange juce lol i was going to keep her in the bedroom because at 62 im a little old for dolls but spike said no... its our house and he dosnt care what people visiting might think lol just one of the many reasons i love him so much!! lol how many men would be so understanding about theres womans old doll!!
