Birchbark Posted May 13, 2011 Report Posted May 13, 2011 I have been trying to learn pattern making, I've made a few, but i'm wondering how small the minimum width a bridge should be. I would think that it depends on the material and the skill of the person cutting. Am i right in this? How narrow can i go on the bridges? What makes most people comfortable? Not much point in doing all the work and not having anyone be able to cut them.. TIA Russell Quote
Travis Posted May 13, 2011 Report Posted May 13, 2011 I think you hit it on the head, its really what you're comfortable with. Usually when I design, I'll print out the pattern and, with a red pen, circle bridges that need to be beefed up. If you're designing a pattern using my specs in the class (150pixels per inch), a 3 pixel wide brush is about the size of a #3 blade kerf and a 5 pixel brush is about the size of the kerf of a #5 spiral. So I'd say that a bridge should be about the size of a 5 pixel brush or larger. Quote
Birchbark Posted May 14, 2011 Author Report Posted May 14, 2011 hey thanks! That's just the kind of information i was hoping for. I have been trying to keep the dpi at 150 but man that three pixels is way small, ha, even at 150 i was also hoping that five pix was big enough that was what i was trying to use mostly. As a gauge and to make lines. Good. Thanks for the info, I'll make that a standard practice now. Russell Quote
