John B Posted December 1, 2020 Report Posted December 1, 2020 A couple of my maths books from Primary School, alooooooooooong time age. One still has a remnant of the brown paper we used to cover our books with, using flour and water for glue. Scrappile, Charlie E, RabidAlien and 2 others 5 Quote
Foxfold Posted December 1, 2020 Report Posted December 1, 2020 Oh the memories. I so remember the £ s d and the chaos it caused when we changed. We used to spend ages trying to work out much we'd spent and trying to fathom out how 2 shillings became 10p. John B, wombatie and RabidAlien 3 Quote

None of that makes any cents to us Americans.::ducks and runs:: Foxfold, wombatie and John B 3 Quote
merlin Posted December 1, 2020 Report Posted December 1, 2020 Oh John and Brenda I remember it like it was yesterday. I still use feet and inches some times and even the wife and I sometimes convert back to Pound shillings and pence, just for the hell of it... John B 1 Quote

I do all my measurements in metric,,but convert to imperial to visualise. I often confuse the shop assistants when I'm buying timber by asking for 2.4 x 2" x 1" or a sheet of 8' x 4' x 19mm. I know exactly what I want Quote

We felt really ripped of, not only did you get 10cents for a shilling (12pence), but the penny was so much bigger than a 1 cent piece. Quote

I only use feet and inches and he only uses metric When we were renovating the kitchen we had so many disagreements because I had no idea what he was talking about half the time.
