munzieb Posted December 23, 2020 Report Posted December 23, 2020 I have had a Craftsman 113. table saw for over 20 years and has given good service but my biggest frustration has been the original fence. I had to add a wooden board on the front because when ever I clamped it down on the track it would have a slight inward bow in the center and it would always be slightly off (1/16+) from the front measurement. When ripping a long board, that dimension would increase so I would have to draw a line on the wood to make sure it tracked true. So the wife asked what I wanted for Christmas. Bingo!! A new fence for my table saw. I did some research and did some price comparison and decided on a Shop Fox W1410. I removed the old Sears Fence and tracks. The new fence is definitely substantial (and Heavy) All the necessary hardware came with the fence (in a large box) I had to drill new holes in the frame since they didn't line up with the original track holes but a good drill bit and cutting oil made all the difference. A 27" front to back measurement is crucial and proper shimming made it happen. This system works on a set of rollers that travel on the edge of the tracks and the handle actually pinches the front and back of the track so it always stays accurate. There are adjustments for tension, height and parallel to track/blade. The fence rolls easily on the track and is very accurate. Mounting the measuring tape initially confused me because it said to place it 2" forward of the centerline of the saw blade but that is where the measurement readout is on the fence. (forward of the fence) There is also a fine adjustment. I had to remount the on/off switch with counter sunk screws under the track on the right side with metal brackets but I may move it to the left side. I typically hold ( or push) the wood with my right hand but that puts me right behind the fence and the blade. ( I have had some kickbacks in the past. Ouch!) The switch on the left may be safer. The only issue is that there is a gap on the back clamp that tends to trap very thin pieces of wood (1/8") when making long cuts. I found some 1/8" brass rod I sanded to fit into that space. Problem gone. Santa (wife) made me very happy this Christmas! wombatie, meflick, jollyred and 2 others 5 Quote

flarud Posted December 24, 2020 Report Posted December 24, 2020 I'm pretty sure that I have the exact same fence. It came with the saw that I bought a few years ago. A guy in town placed an ad,, it is a Delta that he built a router table on one end and a base for it all to sit on. I can't get it to lock down tight enough that it doesn't move. Since I bought it I have been placing a washer under the locking tab to make it a tighter fit. I know that there is probably an adjustment that will make it lock tighter.. one of these days I'll crawl under there and check it out. Quote

If it is a Shop Fox, there should be a placard on the ends with p/n and model #. There are manuals online and adjustments are not complicated. flarud 1 Quote
