I see a lot of ads now for small laser burners, and this has caught my interest. I was wondering if any of you use one? I am concerned with my limited tech skills that learning to use one might make me regret the purchase. Thanks in advance for any thoughts on the subject.

First let’s me say, there have been several discussions in the past about using these small diode lasers here on the forums so it might help you get more information if You search the forums for those older threads. If I find any, I’ll post the  links.

I and several others have one. Like many things, you will find it easier to use and run when you are comfortable with using a computer and software that is necessary to run them. If you have specific questions,  I and others would be happy to try to answer them.

The small inexpensive diode lasers are not for cutting wood projects, they are more for burning. Or “engraving” images, signatures, etc. That is what I got mine for. If you are wanting to do actual cutting, you would need a much stronger, much more expensive CO2 type lasers.

Edited to add: here are links to two of the older discussions.
