savethebeer Posted July 26, 2021 Report Posted July 26, 2021 My Daughter got me a 1 day intro to Woodturning before Covid came along. I eventually did it last week and really enjoyed it. Pat was the tutor and it was 1 on 1 so nice and relaxed and educational. I was amazed at how we both knew others through carving or scrolling. I ended up with a bowl in Beech and a honey drizzler in Pine. This was the first time ever that I was happy that my shop is smallish because he asked could I see myself getting into Turning and I said I don't have the space. If I had spare counter space I would have no problem buying a small lathe because it was fun but lucky for my wallet that choice has been taken away from me. Also doing for the first time is a dolls house for the 5 year old Granddaughter. it'll be 3 storey in what I have available. 1 floor in MDF and 2 floors in 8mm ply. To go with it I'm making furniture and toys out of coffee stirrers and hot glue. I've made a see saw and it works well except when a seat is bumped off the ground in which case a tiny child falls out. The horizontal bar in the picture is for the 5yo to move the see saw up and down. The green is a drinking straw to allow the axle rotate. Has anyone a design to stop the little person falling out. I will probably use a rubber band as a lap strap unless someone has a better idea. Tomanydogs, RabidAlien, new2woodwrk and 3 others 6 Quote
spirithorse Posted July 26, 2021 Report Posted July 26, 2021 Nice work on all of them. You could use some peel and stick velcro on the seat and on the bottom of the toys. God Bless! Spirithorse new2woodwrk 1 Quote
