Totally Off topic about Fishing Equipment

I found this in an old fishing tackle box. It is 14" long, the oval area feels almost like a wet-stone but, very coarse, and the other end has an eye hook.

Can anyone identify it for me, please?

it looks like a sinker that I use for walleye fishing.

Looks like a system for trolling deeper waters. Walleye comes to mind first.

Hi Bob:
That is called a Bullet Weight Bottom Bouncer
As the name would suggest, It bounces off the bottom.
Then when you least expect it, you get a big "SNAG" -
Fish come later when you change your bait and lure
The picture is a slightly different version but should be 
good enough to see what it is
