Popular Post rhw Posted September 17, 2021 Popular Post Report Posted September 17, 2021 I made this for a little girl's second birthday. She's obsessed with "Minnie". I got a bit of lift from spraying the red non-Rustoleum paint with Rustoleum clear gloss but the rest turned out fine. I used the "polycrylic" method to transfer the lettering. preprius, jr42, Joe W. and 10 others 12 1 Quote

preprius Posted September 17, 2021 Report Posted September 17, 2021 I love it. Your Minnie is a cute cut. If you don't mind giving us more information... How many pieces? Type of wood? How long did you work on it? Quote

How many pieces? Type of wood? How long did you work on it? I think there were 70 pieces (actually 71 since one snapped!), all select pine. I'd guess it took 8 hours. The cuts were a couple of hours then a few hours sanding. The biggest problem was the frame, which I sprayed and it kept showing run marks. Since I was gluing onto a backer board and I didn't want misalignment, and wanted it in a certain spot, I cut the outline of shape as the first cut, then used the blank clamped to the backer to place and glue the pieces. If you do this be very careful! with squeeze out or you'll glue the blank to the backer as well! preprius 1 Quote
