cjswoodcrafts Posted August 16, 2011 Report Posted August 16, 2011 made this for my wife, it is a sycamore cane with a cedar handle, wife wanted the handle T on the base, glued with a 1/2 inch dowel, used a 1/2 in forester drill bit, used medium CA glue used a spindle gouge to form the designs and a round nose gouge to make the indentions walnut inlay on handle, i was going for a celtic knot but i am guessin the handle was too big. Travis Posted August 16, 2011 Report Posted August 16, 2011 That turned out really pretty. I bet you can turn custom canes and walking sticks into a business. I know people are always looking for something unique like that. Quote
cjswoodcrafts Posted August 16, 2011 Author Report Posted August 16, 2011 Travis, thanks, yeah pic doesnt do it justice, I can only turn up to 41 inches, and has to be pretty straight. I am working on a yellow poplar one now, just got done rough cutting it. should be finished tomorrow.. will post pic I would love to make custom canes, etc, i sold a sycamore walking stick on ebay 2 weeks ago, but these canes are a bit more indepth in detailing. Now for the big question, how much should i charge. ughhh thinking about pricing really screws my brain up lol thanks again for the comment, Jim Quote
