kmmcrafts Posted October 30, 2021 Report Posted October 30, 2021 I think a lot of factors go into play and what your expectations of the saw are.. I personally wouldn't buy one that doesn't have the up front tension release lever.. I know that older saws can be retrofitted with this on some of them.. but it's not a cheap upgrade so I'd have to be getting the saw at a couple hundred dollars and it'd have to be a super condition for me to put the money into it for the upgrades.. I'm thinking the 2005's would have the lever up front.. so if it's in overall good shape and runs great etc.. I'd say it may be worth it.. In my area there is one that I can get for $200.. I'm probably going to pass just because saws aren't selling all that good in my area.. takes a knowledgeable person to know the value of the higher end saws to have interest in them.. as other uneducated folks would say to themselves that a new saw at the box stores are that much.. IF my Hawk would sell I'd go for the Hegner.. but I'm not bringing home another saw until I move one out of the shop first.. OCtoolguy 1 Quote

Scrappile Posted October 30, 2021 Report Posted October 30, 2021 (edited) I agree with Kevin...I would need to see it and I would want to know your or other scrollers expectations.. My Hegner, is my favorite of all the saws I have owned.. I love it and will not part with it as long as I can scroll... but they are not for everyone... Bottom feed only.... that will not change, smaller table than a lot of the saws.. tool needed to change blades.... But I love mine,,, It does not need a rebuild ever year or so and any thing that could wear out is easy to replace in minutes.... although parts are not cheap... Fab4 Posted October 31, 2021 Report Posted October 31, 2021 Hi Danny: First thing you have to ask yourself Why is it for sale? Secondly. Do I need another saw? Then go from there Fab4 Quote
danny Posted October 31, 2021 Author Report Posted October 31, 2021 Thanks to Everyone for your Comments. I did tell the guy I would pass on it. He did say he was the Original owner, so been going since 2005 (which is not that long for a Hegner) Mine is a 1998 model and still purrs. He did say he had bought the New Pegas. Said moving up.... Don't think so. Anyway.... Danny :+} Oh yea ran across this on Facebook thru Markeplace.... :+} Quote
