Hello fellow scrollers.  When I purchased my used Hawk G2, a tool came with it and I am curious as to what it is.  Can anyone shed some light?  Here are a few images of it.

It's stiff metal bristles embedded in a very thick cloth and glued on a wood handle.  There is not maker stamped on it.

Would someone have a clue what this is and how to use it?

Thanks

A card file for or (is that a file card) cleaning wood rasps and files...?

AHH!!!  That makes so much sense.  I guess it was sold with the Hawk by mistake.  I have a ton of files and rasps, so it'll get used.

It's called a file card and is used for cleaning the crud out of file grooves. I have no idea what it would be used for on a scroll saw. Probably a mistake and the owner is scratching his head and saying "now where did I put my file card"?

I'm wondering is maybe he used it to clean the sawdust/pitch out of scroll saw blades.... Only thing I can think of.  Maybe it helped blades last a few strokes longer?

You might be right.  When I spoke to the seller of my Hawk, he was selling it for his friend's widow, and supposedly, all the original owner ever did was scroll work.  He also had a Dremel 1680, which I also purchased.  But, that's the reason I didn't think it was for anything other than scroll work.  I guess the guy made a lot of money on his stuff though.
