Bmacevans Posted January 29, 2022 Report Posted January 29, 2022 (edited) Hello All, I was sent over from the Canadian Woodworking forums to try my luck here with finding someone who has the same saw I inherited, or can point me to a place I can find it, because I can not find even a mention of this saw existing during my searches. It is a Sears/Craftsman 16" VS Scroller with digital speed display, model #572.286950. I will be able to post a few pictures of it when I get back to the shop(my basement) in a couple hours. Any help would be greatly appreciated Edited January 31, 2022 by Bmacevans OCtoolguy 1 Quote
Dan Posted January 29, 2022 Report Posted January 29, 2022 Can you take a photo of the saw and one of the model number? I can't find it anywhere. OCtoolguy 1 Quote

meflick Posted January 29, 2022 Report Posted January 29, 2022 There are two different Sears/Craftsmen scrolls saws with manuals listed in the Scroll Saw Reviews sub-forum here in the Village. You might see if either of these are the same or close perhaps. https://www.scrollsawvillage.com/scroll-saw-reviews/ OCtoolguy and John B 2 Quote
DRugerH Posted January 30, 2022 Report Posted January 30, 2022 Yeah, I have that same saw, and I was not able to find a manual for it. Do you have any questions about it? Maybe I can help answer it/them, or I can hook mine up to find out. Dan OCtoolguy and John B 2 Quote
Bmacevans Posted January 31, 2022 Author Report Posted January 31, 2022 Hello All, Sorry it took so long to get the photos up, life got a little crazy. Please excuse the lack of table insert, I have to make another table overlay to fix that. OCtoolguy 1 Quote
DRugerH Posted February 1, 2022 Report Posted February 1, 2022 (edited) If it helps at all. This saw uses the same casting/parts as the 2-speed Dremel 1671. When I was gathering saws for my troop, I purchased both this saw and the Dremel. The Craftsman was missing the safety gear and light, and the Dremel had all of the parts, but was a piece of junk and broke blades within seconds of turning it on, and no matter how much I tweaked it, it never really cut well. So, I ended up using all of the parts from the Dremel that were missing on the Craftsman, and ended up with a complete saw. The Craftsman cuts rather well, and the boys loved the digital speed read-out. So, if you are in need of any parts, when conducting your searches, be sure to include the Dremel 1671. Better yet, if you search Craigslist, those Dremels come up often and are dirt cheap. If you find a complete one, you can buy it, and use the parts for your Craftsman, and toss the rest. The Dremel uses a plastic insert instead of a metal one, which my Craftsman has, but even that plastic insert will fit. If anything, you can use it as a template for making your own out of some aluminum or wood. Dan Edited February 1, 2022 by DRugerH ChelCass and OCtoolguy 2 Quote
DRugerH Posted February 1, 2022 Report Posted February 1, 2022 (edited) Here's a side-shot of my Craftsman. The hold-down, shield, knob and blower parts all came off of the Dremel. Dan Edited February 1, 2022 by DRugerH Bmacevans, kmmcrafts and OCtoolguy 3 Quote
