flarud Posted April 24, 2022 Report Posted April 24, 2022 Had a hernia repair surgery last Monday, I was out of commission for about 6 hours. LOL Unbelievable how little pain and how much mobility I had after the procedure. Took 2 weeks off from work to recover but couldn't just sit and do nothing. About 6 hours after the procedure I was down on my hands and knees removing stone from our grill island with a pneumatic hammer chisel. Once I realized how easy it was coming off, I passed the hammer chisel on to my wife and sat back and played with my new stitches. We were replacing the stone with the same stone that we recently used on a fireplace build so that they would match. I decided to remove the lights that I built a few years ago and then we applied some Cypress T&G to the stucco wall behind the grill and hung a new light that I had just built. The first pic is the original stone and lights on the grill island that we built about 7 years ago. The next few are the new Cypress T&G, light, and new stone to match the fireplace. I only have 3 days until I go back to work, maybe I can get some scrollsaw time in yet. jollyred, wombatie and topper55 3 Quote
Dan Posted April 24, 2022 Report Posted April 24, 2022 Super project! Grilling is one of my favorite hobbies. I was given a nice granite slab that I plan to incorporate into a grill workstation, but first we have to build a covered area for the grill. And, wow, when I had a hernia repaired I was out for 6 weeks. I felt I couldn't do a thing for the first two weeks. It took many years until I felt that everything was back to normal. Quote

Mine was an umbilical hernia, about the size of half a golf ball sticking out. I can't believe what little pain and the recovery time. Quote
