My wife & I spent most of our lives by a town called Fort Atkinson. Iowa.  There are still a lot of the fort remaining.  The government (In it's infinite wisdom), built the fort to keep one tribe of indians from fighting with a different tribe.  By the time the fort was completed, both tribes left the area.
