Dragonkort Posted May 4, 2022 Report Posted May 4, 2022 ok heres some pictures of what iv beening doing lately.as you can see I still have a long way to go before I can even consider my self a beginner wood carver lol but pratice makes perfect. the first picture is of the compound cut knob I got from here and i did a little carving on it and gave him a cig in his mouth...Im going to try to enlarge the pattern some so i can see if i can make a grove cut on the bottom of him to put on the rim of thin flower pots. Thhis second one is spikes birthday present. this was just a flat design I decided to try a little carving on. The next picture has a cowboy leaning against post. as you can see I really messed up the hat but better luck next time lol and then theres some waist peices from compound cuts that i decided to make into plant pokes and im not sure what im going to do with the flat fish lol add some pretty eyes maybe and theres a small knob waist peace i did a little carving on not sure what im going to do with that either....make a magnet or use in a layered project of some kind. Then theres the pumpkin I tried to carve from one of my carving mags....and the picture from the mag of what its SUPPOSE to look like....as you can see I have a long way to go but im also learning how to use my electric carving tools...and as you can see i really messed up the painting!! I didnt have the mag picture when i painted it it might have looked better IF i had the picture fromm the mag to look at while i was painting it....oh well lol then theres a little duck i carved from a chunky basicaly just rounding it some and definineg the tail...and then the dalphen on the wave chunky i did a little carvinging on and again mostly just rounding it some and trying to make it not look so much like a chunky and a flat moose....and then the compund cut knob i got from here again.I cut out 2 of the mag pumpkins for carving and im hoping i will do a better job on the second one then i did on the first one....and i'll cut out more of the knobs and see if i can make them look better. and i'll countue to try to add detail to some of my other chunkys as a way of praticing....unfrountly i dont have detailed pictures of the chunkys to use as a guide for drawing carving lines and doing the carvings.. jollyred, Charlie E, Dak0ta52 and 5 others 8 Quote
