northampton scroller Posted November 24, 2011 Report Posted November 24, 2011 I have always thought that Rapid Resizer was a bit expensive, after trying the free trial. But now it is online and you can use unlimited for a yearly subscription of 8gbp, witch is pretty good. But be aware the browse scrollsaw pattern sites. As several of these try to load trogens. Old Beekeeper Posted January 4, 2012 Report Posted January 4, 2012 Regarding picture resizing, I do not know what is available for tools and couldn use some help. If I have a drawing or picture, is there software available which can make an image larger or smaller to fit the work. Photoshop was sugested, but the price is too high. Quote
Travis Posted January 5, 2012 Report Posted January 5, 2012 GIMP and Inkscape will resize your pictures just fine. Plus they're free! [*:30o1uqle]Prepare A Pattern For Printing Using Inkscape - This is a process that I use to prepare all my patterns for printing. I prefer a gray pattern with a thin black outline. Video covers the Trace Bitmap function of Inkscape.[*:30o1uqle]Printing Oversized Patterns - This video shows how to print large patterns by using registration keys. You should watch "Prepare A Pattern For Printing Using Inkscape" before watching this video. Quote

Papatch Posted September 5, 2012 Report Posted September 5, 2012 I came to SSV after Travis had created his wonderful tutorials on Inkscape and GIMP. It's free and works wonderfully. Plus you can always review the tutorials if you have questions. I made 5x7 cards with the instructions for each program and keep them by my computer. With time and experience I have nearly weened myself of the index cards. Thanks Travis! Ed Sr. Travis 1 Quote
pecohen Posted October 11, 2012 Report Posted October 11, 2012 I've use Paintshop Pro for years. It is not free, but it is pretty cheap, especially if you are willing to use one of the older versions. Corel bought it from Jasc several years ago and they've made some improvements to the user interface, mostly dealing with handling large numbers of photos. But if you only need to edit individual photos, the old Paintshop Pro, version 9 or earlier, from Jasc has all the basics - most of what you get with Photoshop and a lot cheaper. I suspect you can get older versions on ebay for well under $20. Quote
