titchmccartney1 Posted November 24, 2011 Report Posted November 24, 2011 Hello Cutting out two chess sets. One for my son and one for my nephew. although I have cut this out from cheap pine which is creating me alot of sanding i am really pleased with it which is why i ended up with two. Please let me know what you think of it and ask any questions you like. Thanks (I just tried adding images but i did not work, help please) or you can follow my link Quote
Travis Posted November 28, 2011 Report Posted November 28, 2011 I look forward to seeing what you came up with. Didn't see any links, though. Here's a tutorial on how to attach pictures to a forum post. I hope this helps: viewtopic.php?f=11&t=1350#p7829 Quote

inspirations Posted November 29, 2011 Report Posted November 29, 2011 Hi i do like your chess sets, pity you did not cut these from Sycamore or maple and finished them with Danish Oil perhaps next time well done. Brian Quote
titchmccartney1 Posted November 30, 2011 Author Report Posted November 30, 2011 Hi Brian I totally agree about cutting the sets from some nice wood and staining. The problem is that it was the first time i have done any 3d scrolling so I did it using some cheap bits of wood i had in my garage. Before I knew it I had cut out lots of pieces and find this very addictive. It seems quite easy to get good results. Then I came across the problem of finishing only to find that I dont like the look of the cheap wood so I decided to paint it. Next time if I make another I will make it from some better stock and stain it. Thanks for your reply Quote

Bzern Posted August 15, 2012 Report Posted August 15, 2012 That's great, I have been wanting to make a chess board and set, even though I don't play chess, just looks fun to make. Great work. Ben Quote
