rdatelle Posted February 26, 2023 Report Posted February 26, 2023 Hi everyone. I'm trying to do some inlay but i'm not to good at it yet. Ron and Dave gave me some tips so I'm going to try and do some of my grandkids names and I was wondering if someone could make some patterns for me with there names. The names are (ZOIE( (CHLOIE) (WILLA) (MEL) (ALLYSON) (ISABELLE) (OLIVER) (MARISSA) (KAYLA) (JACOB) (EMILY) CAMILLA). Not sure if it's easier to do there names in script or block lettering. I know there's a lot of names but I can copy them and have them all the time when I need them. That's not even all of them. I have six more but there older. Thanks. There going to go on small boxes on the lid or under the box. Quote
don in brooklin on Posted February 26, 2023 Report Posted February 26, 2023 (edited) Hi Ralph This could easily be done in Word or Paint etc or Inkscape but would have to know the size and the font Jim Finn has a few examples of boxes he has done and some use Lucinda Handwriting and look real nice. Below is Zoie done both ways. Also if doing upper case I see some examples of using Cooper Black (last image) If you do not have access to Word or Paint let me know the size and the font and I can do for you Edited February 26, 2023 by don in brooklin on Quote
rdatelle Posted February 26, 2023 Author Report Posted February 26, 2023 Hi Don, how you doing. These are the boxes I’m trying to do for my grandkids. I don’t have word or paint or Inkscape. That’s my problem. These are Sheila Landry designs that I just bought yesterday. I wanted to inlay there names on the bottom so they know who’s is who’s. Theret 7 of them for one family. Lol. I was wondering if script would be easier to do. First time for everything. Quote

I’m not sure what size would work. Quote
don in brooklin on Posted February 27, 2023 Report Posted February 27, 2023 Hi Raplh Just to make sure we are on same page. You are talking about putting putting together a dark piece and a light piece and cutting both at once to get something that looks like the image below from Jim Finn? Never done names or double cut. You may want to reach out to Jim for any hints. Below is a PDF with all the names in Lucinda Handwritting 64 point that makes the widest name 4.5 inches wide. Check out to see if you can use this. name test.pdf Quote
