I have two packages sitting here that were refused. The first one went to the wrong address. Not my fault. It was what the buyer gave me. The person who received the package got hold of me and tried to find the person before refusing the package. I have messaged the buyer several times, and all I get back is garbled, as if they don't speak English or understand. I'm waiting for a bad review that hasn't come yet.

The second came back yesterday, and the label says the buyer no longer lives at that address. Without opening it, I haven't determined whom the package was shipped to.

I have shipped several hundred packages and never had one returned.

Do you have any tips on how to handle this?

When this happens to me and I cannot contact buyer, I typically just cancel out the order and issue a refund so long as it's not past the period where you can still issue refund. One time just a couple years ago I got a returned item that I had sold 5 months prior.. it was a international order and wasn't deliverable or wasn't accepted I don't remember now. I wasn't able to contact the buyer nor issue a refund because it was way past the timeline to be able to do a refund.. In this particular case and many cases of returned items are the buyer is buying as a gift and sending it to some other address. Apparently not telling the recipient that they should be expecting a package. I've had a few occasions where the recipient refused the package because they never ordered anything from KevsKrafts. LOL.. which they didn't.. but someone else did and wanted to send it to them, LOL

Anyway, I felt bad not being able to contact that one buyer, and also not being able to send a refund... however I also have a return policy that requires the buyer to contact me within 14 days of when the tacking shows it was delivered to work out any returns and this was several months.. not a lot I could do about it really.

One of these never got scanned by USPS. It isn't unusual for my current mail carrier not to scan them when he picks them up this one went all the way there and back without being scanned.

Unfortunately, for some reason and I don't understand why. but if a package misses the first scan, every scan after doesn't get tracked. I had a issue once about this and filed a complaint with my local P.O. IF I have a higher priced item or custom order that I want to make sure is insured etc, and that tracking needs to for sure be done. I will drop it off at the counter and request a receipt.. When you get the receipt they have to scan it in so it's getting that first scan. Otherwise for the most part for a ornament or something I don't have as much care about it and just eat the funds if there is a issue. After my complaint though I have not had any issue with items not being scanned. I'm sure now and again a package may slip through but if its a regular thing, file a complaint with your postmaster. They are supposed to scan at pick-up.. but I've watched my carrier just grab the package and toss it into the back and head to the next mailbox, so I started watching the tracking online and found that she is likely no scanning until she gets back to the P.O. as she typically is picking up at 10am - 12pm and the packages typically get scanned in at around 4-5pm,
