So, I have had my King Ex saw about 8 months.  There is a part on it that I look at all the time but cant figure out what it is for.  There is a set screw just in front of the lever.  The only thing it seems to do is adjust how low the lever will go in it's "released" position.  I haven't seen anything about adjusting it in the owner's manual.  What does it do?

It's a part of the tension mechanism. Mine was worn so I went to HD and bought a nylon screw. After cutting the head off it worked fine. BUT my best suggestion is toss that whole mechanism and replace it with the Pegas clamp set. A huge improvement. I've got them on both of my Ex's.

I am hoping that I get the Pegas clamps for Christmas.  If not, then I will be purchasing.

To the screw, what exactly does it tension?

To be honest, I don't recall.

Edit: I went online and took a good look at the parts break-down and tried to find something in the instructions that explains what/how to adjust that nylon screw. There doesn't seem to be anything. If you truly need to know how to adjust it, give Ray Seymour a call at Seyco and he'll guide you through it. Once you understand it, maybe you can come back here and explain it to everybody else. When I had them on my saws, I sort of messed with them and figured out that they seem to adjust the drag or tension on the nylon tension lever. As I said, mine were both pretty well used up from someone before me also trying to adjust the tension. Anyway, once you enter the Pegas world, you'll be happy that you did.
