I am like Barb in trying Intarsia. I also have been looking at the flexible sanders. Not sure what is the best solution to mount these items to. Maybe there is not one solution. I also have the sanding mop from Klingspor that I would like to mount.

I have an old bench grinder and purchased the keyless chuck from Grizzly. Seemed to fit good but looked to be off and when I turned it on it vibrated too much. I was going to buy the variable speed control from harbor freight to slow the grinder down. Not sure this will solve the problem.

I have seen the sanding solutions from both Seyco and JGR's website. I think the the Seyco works well with the flexible sanding drums but not the sanding mop unless you get the flexible wheel from seyco. This is a Rikon machine.

The one from JGR is a Foredom machine which has a 5/16 shaft. You can get smaller drums for sanding drums that fit the adapters. I also have found a chuck that can be mounted for a sanding mop. I like the the keyed chuck better than the keyless.

So the question is do I try and fabricate one solution of maybe there is not one. I have seen people with multiple sanders. I would rather have my sanding mop horizontal than in a drill press.

Thanks

Judy sells both the Foredom system as well as the larger flex drums like Barb noted she got and that are the same as the ones Seyco sells (without the motor). Generally speaking, if you are wanting to get started in learning Intarsia I would recommend getting the larger flex drum sanders like Barb shows over the Foredom to begin with. You need the larger surface area of those more often then the smaller Foredom ones.  (I do now have both, unfortunately presently in storage for now. 🙃 Waiting on a shop to be built.)

I got a variable speed Grinder motor for mine from Home Depot or Lowe’s and don’t remember needing anything beyond the reducer bushing that they came with from Judy when I purchased so I’ve been a little confused about what the issue is but then, it’s been a few years now since I set it all up and hubby helped so I figured I must be forgetting something. 🤔🫤
