kmmcrafts Posted January 18, 2024 Report Posted January 18, 2024 Anyone doing listing videos? Etsy started this option some years ago.. I did a couple videos on listings but I'm not even certain anybody even seen the video.. Etsy's video was only about a 6 second option ( may be longer than that now? ) and it wasn't enough time to showcase like I wanted.. even though I had thought about editing the ending of my TikTok and YouTube videos to showcase on Etsy.. I just never got around to doing that. Anyway, just toying around this morning while adding some new products on GI I discovered I can post a link to my YouTube videos and it imbeds into my listing.. Those YouTube shorts seem to get me a lot of views... This video in my listing was only posted a week and had gotten viewed 2500 times.. I don't even have many following my YouTube so I was quite impressed.. Same video on Instagram only gets viewed around 60 times in the same time period... also TiKToK gets around 700 views.. I've always worked my TiKtoK page more than anywhere because of the interaction I get and the views.. I've never had any luck with FB and very little on IG. YouTube might be something I'll put more focus on.. especially if I can imbed a link to my GI listings.. Check it out on my listing here... Let me know what you think good or bad idea? https://goimagine.com/great-dane-wood-puzzle-handmade-from-poplar/ Quote
BadBob Posted January 19, 2024 Report Posted January 19, 2024 Etsy videos are 15 seconds. I have videos on all of my Etsy listings. They are simple slide shows. The way I saw it was that I could display a lot more photos if I had them. Then, I discovered that if there is a video, it runs in place of the image. This does not occur everywhere. For example, the featured item plays the video on my shop's main page when the mouse pointer is over them. It also worked in the app, but I haven't had that installed in a long time, so I can't swear it will work there. I discovered the ability to link to videos on YouTube in the Goimagine listing somewhere near day one when I figured out you could use HTML in the listing. The problem with links in listings is that you have to test and maintain them. Developers change things, and the links get broken. Still, I will be adding videos to my Goimagine listings soon. Right now, I feel it is more important to get things listed. kmmcrafts 1 Quote
kmmcrafts Posted January 19, 2024 Author Report Posted January 19, 2024 Thanks for the heads up on possible broken links.. something I hadn't thought about too much. Quote

I have some links in listings, but I have decided to remove them as I come across them. I don't think YouTube would be a problem if you do it correctly. The link at the top of your browser is temporary. You would need to use the permanent link. You will see the permanent link if you click on share below the video. You can also get it from YouTube Creator Studio as a shareable link. kmmcrafts 1 Quote
