Hawk Posted February 24, 2024 Report Posted February 24, 2024 (edited) I'm still working on getting better with acrylic in my scroll projects. This is one I'm working on now. Another pattern I got from a coloring book. It's smaller only 6" across. Cutting from Canarywood, an upgrade from the ⅛" ply. If you look closely at the pattern side you'll see where I had a bit of a break out compliments of my fat fingers. Oh well, I have the pieces so I believe I can make a good repair. Still plenty of cutting to do, but wanted to share progress so far. Edited March 17, 2024 by Hawk bobscroll, Scrappile, TAIrving and 2 others 4 1 Quote
Scrappile Posted February 24, 2024 Report Posted February 24, 2024 Looking good. Canerywood is one of my favorites. Quote
JJB Posted February 28, 2024 Report Posted February 28, 2024 I have never cut canary wood before. How was it? Quote

Hawk Posted March 8, 2024 Author Report Posted March 8, 2024 A bit more progress, first piece of acrylic cut and rough shaped. I wanted to show the process I do for this, ill glue this one in and let it set before moving on to the next. Scrappile, JackJones and bobscroll 3 Quote
Hawk Posted March 15, 2024 Author Report Posted March 15, 2024 All the acrylic is cut and in place. Letting the glue set then clean up the glue strings and "shakey hand" slop. Attach the top piece, touch up sanding then done. JackJones and bobscroll 2 Quote
Hawk Posted March 17, 2024 Author Report Posted March 17, 2024 Here is the end result. A couple of things I learned on this one. 1, coloring book lines are NOT consistent, I figured that out about a quarter of the way in cutting. 2, using solid wood (canarywood in this case) is not good. A few pieces broke out while cutting. 3, working on a "small" project is difficult! So it was a good learning experience. Charlie E, JackJones, bobscroll and 1 other 3 1 Quote
