Hawk Posted March 3, 2024 Report Posted March 3, 2024 My daughter has approached me about going in together on an Esty shop. I have zero experience with this. I've never did craft shows or anything like that. I always figured if I didn't charge then they couldn't complain (lol). Anyhow, where would I go to get an education on how Etsy works, setting up a site and such? I'm guessing there's tons of stuff on YouTube but thinking there might be other avenues to learn from. jollyred Posted March 3, 2024 Report Posted March 3, 2024 Etsy actually has a lot of tutorials on their site. At least they did some years back when I tried selling there. Good luck with your store. Tom Hawk 1 Quote
kmmcrafts Posted March 3, 2024 Report Posted March 3, 2024 Starting a shop now days on Etsy is way different than when I open my shop back in 2010.. back then you had to have PayPal and or accept checks / cash for meeting up locally etc. I don't have any tips as far as setting up an account and that sort of thing.. I've kind of grown with Etsy over the 14 years I've been selling on there and any updates I've had to do they kind of spelled it all out for me. As for actual selling and shipping... There is a lot to be learned there and those of us doing that portion of the business probably can offer some good tips and advice.. There are things I'm currently been working at updating. I used to have fixed shipping rates for the items I sold.. over the years shipping continually going up.. I've grown tired of having to go change rates every year or two so now I'm just setting up my shipping based on the ( now integrated ) shipping rates based on weight and box size.. It gets to be a full time job doing fixed shipping when you have 500 product listings to do every time they make price changes.. Back when I started there was no option but fixed flat rate shipping. Now that they have integrated the rates within etsy it's simple to just put your weight and box size and it automatically charges the customer based on the location etc. Hawk 1 Quote
