Scrappile Posted September 1, 2024 Author Report Posted September 1, 2024 I asked about what clamps it uses. The seller sent me this picture. He us very responsive. sent a picture as I was typing in asking for a picture. He is selling it for a friend. That always make me hesitate some. I think this would be the top clamp. Is the bottom on similar? Quote
JTTHECLOCKMAN Posted September 1, 2024 Report Posted September 1, 2024 (edited) Absolute deal even at $300 if it runs well. Surprised it did not sell at $300. Someone does not know what they have. $1500 saw back then. Edited September 1, 2024 by JTTHECLOCKMAN OCtoolguy 1 Quote
kmmcrafts Posted September 1, 2024 Report Posted September 1, 2024 That's a 226VS Ultra.. In the bag it appears to have a few blade holders. That clamp is the bottom one unless they upgraded to the new style upper clamp. The old style isn't easily removed as it is held in with a roll pin and has to be pressed out. I upgraded one of the saws I had and it replaces the whole front nose of the upper arm and then the clamp is removable.. Those lower blade chucks are around $20 each i think so the more you get the better.. I like to take a paint marker and mark what number blade I use for certain clamps.. This way I can preload several blades and if i forget what I loaded before they get used I can look at my number I put on it..That way if a projects requires me to use several different sized blades I don't have to change them out in the clamp too.. Seems like it's a pretty decent saw for the money if it runs good etc. I think this saw is newer than a 1998 as I have the same saw but this one has the newer style logo on the side. I believe they made this up until 2005 ish. This has two different positions in the lower arm to insert that clamp. The position closes to the front is for a finer detail cut or cutting thin stock.. and the rear slot os for a more aggressive cut for thicker stock.. OCtoolguy 1 Quote

OCtoolguy Posted September 2, 2024 Report Posted September 2, 2024 I "stole" one that had 20 hours on it for $250. I loved it but it was just too big for my little shop. So, I sold it for $500. That one looks very nice. If it runs as good as it looks, I'd bring it home. danny 1 Quote
