JTTHECLOCKMAN Posted September 9, 2024 Report Posted September 9, 2024 It definitely is a 226. It says VS but I can not see other side of saw. Great price if it runs well. OCtoolguy 1 Quote
OCtoolguy Posted September 9, 2024 Report Posted September 9, 2024 Why wait? For the sake of $75, you might miss out on a great saw. Go check it out and if you like it toss out your offer. The worst that can happen is you pay full price. It looks like a nice saw and the light is worth $25 minimum. Go get it! Quote
kmmcrafts Posted September 10, 2024 Report Posted September 10, 2024 IF, that light is the same one that I got with my old 1998 226 ultra which must have been sold by Hawk at the time because I bought the saw still in the sealed box with many pattern books and that light.. Best magnifier light I've ever had so far.. Mine has a glass lens instead of whatever cheap material my other lights lenses are. I did eventually swap out the fluorescent bulb to a LED one.. The saw looks just like the one I have.. maybe slightly newer as it does have the newer looking logo on the side. Like Ray said, go and look at it.. make an offer.. Whenever I go look at these saws I look for extra goodies.. or lack of and use the lack of as bargaining grounds.. One thing is you'll probably like to have 4 or more extra blade clamps.. If there is no extras and the person selling doesn't know anything about the saws sometimes you can use that as a bargain point.. I love having the 10 of them that came with my saw.. nice to be able to have several blades already loaded up. I took a Sharpe marker and marked the bottom of the clamps with the number size for that blade.. Nice when scrolling a project that might require a few different blades as you can just swap out to the one you need that is already preloaded. I quite often will use a spiral blade for veining after cutting with a straight blade so as I said.. having blades loaded ready to swap out and swap back etc is really handy. OCtoolguy 1 Quote
Scrappile Posted September 10, 2024 Author Report Posted September 10, 2024 It is driving me crazy. My son is here right now visiting from Tenn. He is helping/fixing things that I no longer can, so The scroll saw will wait and if it gets sold, it was not meant to be. When he leaves, I will look and offer like $275 if it is still listed. It says the best offer. If not I will wait and see. I do not need it, it would be a luxury for me. So, we will see. My son and daughter come when they can and when they come they help us old folks so much. We are so blessed. OCtoolguy, danny, kmmcrafts and 1 other 4 Quote
