BadBob Posted January 7 Report Posted January 7 I dislike the term "Free Shipping," but everywhere I look, the platforms call it that. Yesterday, I set up $35 free shipping on both my Etsy and Goimagine shops. I spent several hours reviewing listings and adjusting prices. I plan to let them run this way for a year, tweaking things if necessary. Etsy is all or nothing. I can offer free shipping for purchases of $35 or more on all the listings. Goimagine allows me to configure it how I want. I can set the base price to anything and pick the listings to which I want to apply the free shipping. Why? I have many very low-cost items and want to encourage people to buy more. These items have very low material costs and very low labor. Many of them are cut from wood left over from other projects. This equals high profit margins. kmmcrafts 1 Quote
rjweb Posted January 7 Report Posted January 7 Good idea, just like amazon, I find myself when shopping amazon to purchase enough for free shipping, don't have prime just don't buy that much, RJ kmmcrafts 1 Quote
kmmcrafts Posted January 7 Report Posted January 7 I also end up buying more things sometimes just to get the free shipping.. Gotta watch it though.. sometimes that other item you didn't know you needed cost more than the shipping would have, LOL.. I don't this in my etsy shop years ago when they first come out with it. I also have where if they favorite a item or put a item in the shopping cart it'll send a email with a % off offer. Many times they buy with those offers... however adjust your prices for this.. even myself on eBay will ad something to favorites or shopping cart and "wait a few days" many times I get a offer.. How I got my last laser $100 cheaper.. just favorited it and waited.. really favorited a lot of them trying to decide which one.. then they kept sending offers which also helped my decision, LOL I don't do much shopping on Amazon either and therefore don't do the prime deals.. just not worth it. I don't think I've seen Amazon doing any discounts if you put something in your cart and wait a few days.. maybe they do? It does remind people that they liked something and added to their cart.. but doing so people are figuring out that they can get it cheaper by waiting a few days.. so I'm not certain if that's a good thing or bad.. many times if they get into habit of doing this they keep shopping and maybe find similar cheaper yet so.. this could be a bad thing in some ways.. My ornaments is the only items I have that's less than $35 and 2 of them isn't really cheaper than the shipping so this probably doesn't work out too well for my shop.. though it did bring in more buyers buying more than one item.. so maybe? I don't know Quote

I have been doing this for years. I also send buyers a thank-you 10% discount coupon. They rarely get used, so I factor the 10% into the pricing. 18 hours ago, kmmcrafts said: I don't do much shopping on Amazon I buy a lot from Amazon. They have a Fulfillment Center and a Warehouse right down the road from me. If I order early in the morning, there is a good chance I'll have it the same day. I see Amazon delivery trucks almost every day. The prime account is well worth the money for me. Home Depot delivers here also. kmmcrafts 1 Quote
