I was turning this bowl out of 5"x5" walnut.  All was going well until I got to the bottom of the bowl and found 2 largish cracks in the wood.  I declared it to be designer firewood but my wife suggested that I try the Japanese trick of repairing it with gold.  This is called Kintsugi and there are many articles on the web about how to do it.
