I though about waiting and doing this when I finished but going to just post as I go along. this is a wilckens pattern. I love playing chess and love fancy scroll saw patterns so this was perfect blend for me. picked up some 5/4 oak and walnut stock.this morning. cut in half planed 1/4" cut 2.7/8" squares 32 each wood. cutting 2 at a time and gonna take some time. got 6 out of 64 squares done. so day 1 of this project is finish. cont.........

if you look in one of the pictures you will see the shop foreman watching me. that's Riley Ann my grand daughter. she came to watch me for awhile

ROBERT PHILLIPS is only teaseing you ,he one of the best here.!I looked and didn't see the shop forman or riley ann.but ......That chess board is the best ever I've seen ! To think that somebo dy,YOU came up with the idea to go way beyond the extra mile and design this extrodonary board.Your apponant will be wowed looking at it playing he'll leave his guard down and miss the boat on strategic moves.Can't wait to see this baby finished .where do you find all the quality time for these projects and home cooked mouth watering meals too.

kevin look at the 2nd to last picture right hand side of picture shes there. this is a no compound cutting design. one of the things i liked about it. different from most sets. now time to head to the shop for square making 101. only 58 more to go

okay got up at 4 am yesterday and got all the sqaures done. then got the gardens all tilled and ready for planting. was digging a whole to move a small fig tree when i think i broke a bone in my foot. i am on crutches and pan pills. not sure if i will go to doc but walking /hopping to shop is out of question. so life is on hold for awhile.sorry guys but going from chair to bathroom is a big deal so shop is out of the question

MR.GATOR! The chess board was done in record time! Hopefully you were able to stack cut all the pieces at once.The precision cutting you've done repaticiosly must have been trying.Are you going to fill in the voilds or leave well enough alone.What an undertaking this project was.I'm proud to see you finish so soon.Another thing is i didn't recognize the scroll saw your useing?

getting a little done wifes starts vacation tonight so all next week will be what she wants to do. dont think there will be no shop time sorry guys. few pieces getting done. will be gone a lot also. picture off phone sorry guys. (edit) went to shop got a better shot

i have not died (yet) and i am still around but life got in the way. got some done today after yard work. tomorrow rain all day here so i will be in the shop. will finish it tomorrow except finishing so pictures tomorrow i promise. just had some health issues and several days out of town. freezer went out while we were gone so had a big clean up to do. never a dull moment here at "Bend over acres"

shoot my shop is a mess now. i always clean up between projects. well 2 rainy days and glue setting up slow. instructs left a lot to be desired but after a couple try's its gonna work. here's a few more pictures drawers going together trim done and trim being added
