I took the day off today because my brother, his wife and new baby where passing thru town on there way home from Texas. so i cooked lunch and just had a great time meeting baby Rowen and just catching up. Got alot pictures! lol my wife and sister just went nuts taking over 300 pics between the the 2 of them.

After my brother left i took the kids into Quincy to have a look at Grave Digger. oh that was Fun!! 3 boys and 2 girls and just me to watch them. the boys where all over that monster truck and here i am trying to get the girls out of my truck. i'm sure it was a funny sight. my daughter who is 5 told me there aint no horses here DAD! you said there was a thousand of them. and i pointed at the truck sure there is there just all inside! course she just shot me a look of disbeleif and said she wasnt interested in getting out to find them LOL but the boys had fun!

When we got back i was milling around waiting on the wife to decide what she wanted to do the boys took off and went fishing and the girls went about there way doing what girls do so i finial decided it was time to start working on my table saw. i gathered all the pieces i've been collecting over last few months. 40' of angle iron some 3/4" pillow blocks , 3/4" rod and other misc. parts. drug the welder and cut off saw out and cut the angle down for the arbor and trunnion assembly and spent about 2 hours building it. then cut up the supports for the cabinet of the saw. awile back i was moving the rest of my tools from storage to my sisters place where i'm storing them in kinda of a cramped place. but as i was moving my jointer some how it broke the strap that was holding it and it fell of the trailer wasnt a pretty sight but i wasnt to busted up over it but it sure was. so i salvaged what i could off it, alot of pot metal and few other pieces, it was powered by a 1 1/2 hp motor so i figure i'd use to power the saw.

i got acouple pics of the assembly i'll post later. too late now but over all it was great day

 I was envisioning this whole thing and it really made me laugh! Sounds like a stunt I'd pull!

Sounds like you got a good start on your table saw. I can't wait to see some pictures. It's a shame the jointer had to sacrifice himself for the table saw, though. But a little motor donation, he'll always live on. ;)

yeah i got all the angle broke down and then part of arbor assembly welded together. so not to bad still need to make the tilt assembly and the height pin. welded the the top part of the frame together today but the wife had the cam so i was unable to get pics

heres the pics of the unfinished arbor assembly still need to reinforce the motor mount and add the pillow blocks yet was going to try and get that done tomorrow

Great story about Gravedigger. I can just picture the girls sitting there wondering where the horses were because my girls used to ask me the same thing when I was actively into street rodding. We would be going to a show and I would say we were going to see things with lots of horsepower, but of course they didn't see any real horses.

Very nice start on that table saw. Can't wait to see more of the construction pics as you work on it.

today was a productive day i finished up the frame 36" tall x 36" deep x 30" wide . mounted the pillow blocks and got to thinking about the best thing to use for the shaft. i picked up a 3/4" rod then i was going to have the threads turned down to 5/8" but most 12" blades use 1" arbors

cost wise i cant afford to get 1" bearing which use the 205 pillow blocks (i have 204's for the 3/4" bearings) and 1" shafting then replacing the pulley for 1" shafting and i'm not going to use a bushing those are dangerous very very dangerous!!!!! so i'm going to use the 10" blade for now later on i might set it up with the 12" blade.

i also got the motor mounted and found out that its not what i thought it was its only a 1/2 horse motor rather then 1 1/2 horse (always wondered about why that jointer seemed to be lacking in power) it was sold to me as 1 1/2 hp mastercraft jointer. but i never did look at the tag till today so i'm on the search for a different motor too.

still working on the design for the tilt and the blade height part.Every time i think i come up with something i think will work! i put it together and find its just to sloppy. so while the wife is having her sale tomorrow i'm going to the scrap yard to see what i can find

i need to start thinking about a top i need something strong yet smooth i wanted to use a piece of half inch steel but just dont have the milling equipment to cut the insert. the last table saw i built used a laminated wood top of walnut and hard maple and it did not hold up very well.

wife dont need the cam so i'm hijacking it(by force if need be lol  ) and get some updated pics

well i wanted to build it like this at first but couldnt find any 2" square tubing at any of my normal haunts so i had to add the angle along the whole way for strength since i could only find 1 1/2" x 1 1/2" 1/16 walled tubing . so i'm having to reconsider my options i welded down a 3/4" inner id piece of pipe for height adjustments but i'm having a tough time coming up with a good way for the tilt. i've used up all but 2 feet of the 40' of angle iron i started with. i still need at leas 12 more feet to finish the hand wheels.

i ended up not being able to work on the tablesaw today maybe later tomorrow. old Henry(the ford 8n tractor) of my sisters broke an arm so i ended up having to get the stuff to repair it

way the doctors talked it wasnt that big f a deal happens alot in the older crowd by what they where saying she has 3 options repair with a laser , repair by injecting a gas,or injecting silicone into the eye they did a couple of tests waiting on the results and any type of surgery will be next month and my sister is going to take her for that.

i'm heading up this afternoon to try and get some stuff done on the tablesaw if everyone leaves me alone lol

worked on the table saw some, added the supports for the tilt and height adjustment, built the arbor to bolt the saw blade too, i ended up buying a 5/8" bolt 10" long acouple of 5/8" washers and nuts. i was going to then use some bushings to take it to 3/4" but in the end i decided it would be better to just cut the bolt down to about 2.5" leaving about 1.5" of threads and an inch of 5/8" bolt left. then drill into the end of the 3/4" shaft and weld and pin them together while in the process of drilling out the hole in the end of the 3/4" shaft with every size bit i would get alittle further and further off the center mark, but i have a back up plan! i'm going to pick up a 1/4" boring bar for a metal lathe and mount it in my cross slide and bore the hole so it centered in the rod using the 1/2hp motor

so i worked on the tilt, i think i figured out a way to make everything work the way it should i'll try to snap a few shots tomorrow( i keep forgetting the cam). i built the rods that will be the adjusters for the height and tilt as well. need to come up with some hand wheels yet might just use some solid chunks of oak i have laying around.

i dont feel i really got that much done tonight. seemed like about every 10 minutes i was getting called away for some reason or another.

It's still a lot of greek to me since I've not ever used a table saw........but the pictures really help and I'm thoroughly enjoying following your project Blame. I sure hope your Mom's surgery goes well........eye surgery always scares the fire out of me. My mom had to have cataract surgery....laser........and you would have though she was going through bypass surgery as scared as I got for her lolol. But she's all well and good and now can see the dust in her shop..........roflmbo..........she's a wood carver.

Thanks so much for sharing your project with us Blame.

It looks like you're off to a pretty good start. Its neat to see this thing come together. I can't wait to see it complete. Looks like a lot of fun, too. Keep the pix comin!

i took a couple of hrs and played around with the saw i'm ready for a top just not sure what i'm going to use yet. wonder how much a hdpe plastic sheet would cost? i took pics but there so dark you cant see anything so i'll take some more when i get back up there

basically i finished welding the arbor to the height shaft. found out i wasnt in my right mind when i mounted it to the frame  i put the upright that held the adjustment rod at the back of the saw i'm not sure why?:oops::oops: so i redid it today. i still need to do alittle fine tuning on the the adjusters but they work and i think i'll be adding some more pillow blocks when i get the chance to! that should make it work alittle smoother.
