I have the Bauer as well and really like it. Only time will tell how durable it is but I actually feel that it is a better and more stable platform than my old Dewalt 788. My only wish is having a 3d printed conversion kit to install an arm release lever. That damn release pin is just a bit too far away from me and I have long arms.

Beautiful job on that Kris. Is that your own pattern?

If you are more comfortable having it mounted on the saw, leave it there. As you can see from all of the responses, nobody really uses a blade guard. Yes, they get in the way with blade changes and inserting the blade into your project. Personally, I have never used the blade guard and only knicked myself once with a number 5 blade. Bleed for 30 seconds and stopped. You really do have to try to hurt yourself on a Scrollsaw.

Where did you get the locomotive pattern? That would go great hanging in the room with my model railroad. -

Excellent work Paul! If that's the third most difficult, can we see pictures of your first and second most difficult projects.I love projects with that kind of detail. -
Not only was it a good selfie, the cutting is excellent. Great Job!

For me it's Matt Smith and David Tenant. I have Disney subscription so I really have no excuse not to catch up on the series. I've had some issues over the last couple of years. I lost both my kidneys to cancer and now have dialysis three days a week. Then, to add insult to injury they took out part of my right lung because the kidney cancer had spread. Now I get an infusion every six weeks to hopefully knock out anything they haven't found.

Welcome to the Village. I'm back from a many year break as well and also got the Bauer. It's a great saw.

Beautiful piece. I've really got to try my hand at intarsia one day

That's a great first project. Very well done. I like your release mechanism. I saw one on YouTube that was just a lever mounted right in from of the release pin. Follow topic y

I did a few years back. It cuts well but keep in mind you get a distinct two tone effect on the edges. It happened to be the look I was going for but it all depends on the project -
I'll have to find that since I really want to make one as well

Great job on that Denny. I've got to get back into trying to make my own frames. I keep having them done at a framing store but it does get expensive.

Those are awesome. I love the different wood idea. Is this pattern on this site?

I received the Bauer for Christmas. Now the first thing I will say is that this thing is heavy at 75 pounds. It is packaged extremely well and should survive even the most careless UPS driver. Setup consists of taking it out of the box and plugging it in, that's it. I've got about 10 hours of use on it and it's a great saw. I did have to adjust the set screws in the blade clamp slightly to get a better blade alignment but that was a two minute fix. I did not bolt it down yet but have virtually no vibration thanks to the weight of the saw. If I had to have any complaint at all it would be the distance to the arm release pin. I am 6'2" tall and have long arms but the arm release pin is about 3 feet away when sitting in front of the saw. That's a stretch even for me. Someone did a youtube video on making a pin release arm to attach to the saw to make it easier. Sorry, but I can't remember where I saw it. I had a DW788 for years and I consider the Bauer an upgrade. Bigger table, tilting head, heavier, and yes, I feel less vibration. Only time will tell what the durability is like, but the Bauer line is a big improvement over the Central Machinery and Hercules tool lines. This is the same saw as the Rikon. If you're looking for a new saw but don't want to spend a ton of money, I don't think you can go wrong with this.
