Bendita Posted February 6, 2014 Report Posted February 6, 2014 Can anyone tell me what wrong with my saw it just quit cutting straight lines I've put a picture up to show you is there something wrong with my saw or me? Lucky2 and amazingkevin 2 Quote
rjR Posted February 6, 2014 Report Posted February 6, 2014 (edited) Try a new blade first! If that isn't the solution; check blade alignments/ Vertical and front to back as being where they should be. Your table could also be slightly out of square to the blade. (Just slighly tilted -check with small accurate square). May be just the "scrollsaw-eye" thing too. You can only look at that precise of work for so long and you can NOT see it right anymore. IT MIGHT JUST BE "BEER-Thirty!" Need a break from it buddy. If you are not comfortable any more on your station; might need different--chair lighting- footrest-- You get the idea.. Sometimes just tired makes us make small errors that can become big ones. It might also be trying to cut at too fast or slow of feed rate and blade speed combination. ALSO a few times wood does what it will! Not every item is going to be laser straight perfect. Hope these ideas help. Edited February 6, 2014 by rjR Quote

LarryEA Posted February 6, 2014 Report Posted February 6, 2014 It will be a beautiful piece. How will you use it? Looks a little like a trivet. My wife (Susan) wants me to tell you that she is impressed with it. Larry Bendita and amazingkevin 2 Quote
Bendita Posted February 6, 2014 Author Report Posted February 6, 2014 Thank Susan for me please Larry, Well its part of a much larger project I'm planning on maybe making another 2 the same size but a different pattern they will be the windows in a privacy screen the lower part of the screen will have a rectangular panel (scrolled also), I have a year to complete all of this so no panic I can take some time of it. LarryEA Posted February 6, 2014 Report Posted February 6, 2014 Just a suggestion... The blades you use to cut this pattern will never cut a true straight line. You are wearing off the teeth on one side. To correct this, you need to cut as much 'clock wise' as you cut 'counter clock wise' (:>))))))))))))))))))))) Larry Bendita 1 Quote

Doug Posted February 7, 2014 Report Posted February 7, 2014 If you get it to cut straight lines again, you definitely will need to go to a different pattern. Looking great. Bendita 1 Quote
Ron Johnson Posted February 7, 2014 Report Posted February 7, 2014 Hi Hans Hopefully someone above and others have solved your problem. I've had that problem once where I had to adjust the set screw in the blade clamps to align the blade centred within them. You may also check the face on the set screws are flat. If not there could be a possibility the blade is being twisted ever so slightly when tightened. Not sure if I've been of any help, anyway that is some pattern you are cutting. It makes me dizzy just looking at it. The finished project should look fantastic when completed. Quote

Also I will make you drop tools, lose things in front of you,and constanly make a dust breeze on your wet finish!! Beware!! Actually a nice project and I got nightmares looking at it! Bendita 1 Quote

Bendita Posted February 7, 2014 Author Report Posted February 7, 2014 Berry I thought no one would ask I have an old book of doodle art or I should say Had a book but still have some patterns The other places you can find them is in adult coloring on the web I've pulled a few of there take a look at it if this sort of sick form of entertainment interest you. I'm always looking for a challenge I'm not a bunny or kitty cutter. Quote
Birchbark Posted February 8, 2014 Report Posted February 8, 2014 Very nice work. Can't wait to see the finished screen. Are we gonna have to wait a year? nice work as everyone has said Russell Quote
ubgoofy2003 Posted February 15, 2014 Report Posted February 15, 2014 Looks real nice. I had to look real hard to see what you meant by not cutting straight. I had a problem like that one time & I had to switch to a different type of blade. Then it was fine. May not be your problem, but , never know. I could turn the wood more & more, but, would not straighten out. Always wanted to cut off the line. After changing to the other type of blade, it was fine. Really went to town after that. Hope you can figure it out. Good Luck Quote

Good Luck Sorry Perk I thought everybody had a turn at it, it was meant as a joke if you look at the pattern you'll see there were no straight lines to be had so it better not be cutting straight, But on a serious note if you find your blade wondering chances are you've turned a lot of corners or rounds and we always favour one side over the other so what happens is you wear the teeth of one side of the blade. When you see this happening there is only one thing you can do and that is change your blade. I hope your enjoying the people at the village they really are a helpful bunch just don't be shy. .../Hans Edited February 16, 2014 by Bendita Quote
