areynoldsre Posted February 23, 2014 Report Posted February 23, 2014 I've been working on this cross for a couple of weeks now. Looks like it's going to take all my shop time for awhile. The pattern is a Sue Mey design from Scroll Saw Woodworking & Crafts, issue #45.The wood is from a silver maple tree that our church had to cut down last summer. The tree was nearly 60 years old and a major branch fell off so for safety reasons we had to cut the rest of the tree down. Some of the woodworkers in the church got together to salvage as much usable wood as we could. We're making a number of projects to sell to help cover the cost of removal and getting a new tree planted. The work is slow going. The boards are 1/2 inch and I am using a 0/2 blade to get the details right. What this picture shows is about 2 hours of work. Quote

LarryEA Posted February 23, 2014 Report Posted February 23, 2014 I enjoy it when there is a story involved with a project. What better than a cross from your Church's tree. Looking good. Larry Quote
