  10. Bob I love Blackheart Sassafras, it's my favorite wood. This piece was about 5 foot long when I got it, still have about 3 foot left. I'm hoping to get another piece with this type of grain running through it in September at the Melbourne Working With Wood Show. Marg
  11. I have cataracts in both eyes so it's a bit hard doing the intricate cuttings at the moment, even doing portraits is a bit of a pain because I can't always see the lines unless they are under my nose. Marg
  12. No DW there were no problem with it at all. It cuts like butter and the satin finish looks great. Down here they use Jelutong for carving and for making wooden rocking horses, so very versatile and also very light in weight. Marg
  13. WooHoooooooo I finally got them all posted and hopefully you will be able to see them all. The Mr & Mrs is cut from 1/2 in Jelutong and is on a 1/2 in Blackheart Sassafras base. They both had 3 coats of clear satin polyurethane The Heart tokens holder is from 1/2 in Jelutong with a MDF backer and perspex front, on a 1/2 Jelutong base and an L shaped heart bracket at the back to give extra support. Also had 3 coats of clear satin polyurethane. Hope you like them. Oh the Mr & Mrs pattern is by Steve Good and the heart is part of a larger pattern by Russell Birchbark SSV. Russell remember the Mr & Mrs 2016 with the Heart in the middle they decided on just the heart.
