  3. hi, everyone i have not posted on here for a long while, and i missed everyone. but now i plan on staying in touch. i had my first craft show this weekend, and it was a blast, we did ok on the sales part of it, but i loved the way most people react, to seeing the things that i have cut out. and also the show was in my home town, and i seen alot of old friends that i have not seen in years. and it was fun spending time with my wife. well i look foward to catching up with the people on here that i know, and getting to know all of the new folks on here.
  4. its my table saw, i use it alot, then my lathe, but i have to be in the right mood , when i use the lathe. sounds funny, but maybe someone out there knows what i mean.
  5. hi everyone, i hope you are all doing fine. i have a question, first of all i have a floor , full size drill press, and for some time now i have been wanting something smaller to drill the many holes , we need for scroll saw work. i know they make bench top drill press but they all have the same huge motor, and top. so do they make a hobby size drill press? i know they make a drill press that you can mount a drill in, but before i buy that i want to make sure there is not something better. thanks
  6. hi all, well i have not been on here much for the last week, i have a crafts show this saturday, and i had to get everything finished today. i had no idea how much we had to do, but with the help of my wife its all ready. i cant wait till saturday, to see what people look for and want to buy at the show. i will let everyone know how it went after the show.
  7. i like making baskets, candle holders, and shelves, but i have to try other stuff, to keep it interesting
  8. i have never went to a craft show, but next month , i will have some of my stuff in a show. a friend of my wife seen some of my stuff, and wants me to put my stuff with hers. so i have been cutting a little bit of everything, because i have no idea what will sale. and i dont know how much to charge for my stuff. but i think travis was talking about etsy, so i will take a look and see what crafts are going for, than charge less.
  9. i use the blue masking tape, and i have never tryed any other way. but i like the tape and it works for me. good question
  10. i just got done making this box, cut it out on the scroll saw, i got the pattern from steve good. i used maple, red oak, and cherry
  11. i need to learn how to store my patterns, it takes me alot of time to find what i am looking for.
  12. i would like a wood lathe, and my son, and, or daughter to take an intrest in woodworking, and we could build something together. oh, and a new work bench.
  13. i like that very much, where did you find the pattern? or did you make the pattern?
  14. hi travis, i think it depends on the saw, my first saw the blade was back about 8" from the front of the bed, and i had it lower so i could get close enough to see the blade, and lines. but my excalibur, the blade is about 3" back from the front of the bed, so i have this one higher, and im closer to the blade. i know my wife does not like it being that high, she would rather use my old saw , because she is used to the way it cuts.
  15. thanks for all the nice words, everyone. the top looks even better now i put 2 more coats of finish on it. thanks again, jim
  16. well this is the jewlery box i am making for my wife, the sides are maple the top and bottom is birch plywood, and the smaller heart with the teddy bear on it is bubinga, and thanks again to travis in helping me out with the pattern , of the teddy bear. the heart i just used a compass, and a ruler
  17. very nice work, i like them all!
  18. i started out with a hitachi, and i wore the switch out in 3 weeks, then i took it back to lowes and got another one, then i knew i needed another one, because my wife wanted to use it, as much as i wanted to. then i had some good luck, seen a ad for a 20" excalibur, it is 5 years old, anyway got it with a stand for 130.00 and it works great. i dont even use the hitachi anymore. but i have a backup if i need one.
  19. my sister loves to paint, and she is very good at it, so im going to cut out a few handsaws, to give her to paint
  20. i keep my saw in my son's old bedroom, he moved out, so now i have a place to work year around, i have a shop in the garage, that i work in when its a nice day, that means a few days in the spring, and fall. good question travis.
