  1. I don't think so because I can't see anyplace to install the blade!
  2. Their webhost has been moving files, etc. They are working on it furiously trying to get it back online.
  3. This is precisely why I will NEVER buy ANYTHING that is "NFL, Walt Disney , Nascar , NBA, Harley Davidson" related. Anytime I hear of other organizations doing the same I, then, adjust my buying appropriately. Their crass materialism has, definitely, taken a toll on the American economy!
  4. There are no mistakes in scrolling -- just "design opportunities"!
  5. A scroll saw won't cut you but it makes for a nasty burn!
  6. Merlin - You forgot a couple other items -- Travis could, also, cut fingers and hands as well after a few 'malteds'! Dan
  7. Since I already own the book (and a few others!) I won't be entering the contest. However, I have just finished my 1st inkscape project where I had to slightly modify a pdf of a clock and it worked great! I am going to start trying to use Inkscape (and Travis' template - thanks) to design some of my own clock patterns. I've been using GIMP to manipulate my photos. Have I got this backwards? I guess I'm still exploring both programs! Dan
  8. The same company that used to make the Craftsman quality tools now makes the Ridgid tools sold at Home Depot. I now have a contractor's table saw and a miter saw. All came with a Lifetime guarantee.
  9. I'm real partial to "Free Wood". Right now I have a huge supply of cherry that was given to me by a finish carpenter who had a large amount left over from a big job. I am, now, using cherry for almost everything since it's cost was nil! Dan
  10. My favorite scroll saw cuttings are clocks (using the smaller clock inserts). In addition to this I also like to turn pens. I call my 'business' "Pens, Clocks, 'N More" and my website is http://www.PensAndClocks.com. Dan
  11. Nice - I love the creative way you approached this. I agree with you in that a bigger clock would work very well! Dan
  12. VERY nice! I've only done clocks with the 'mini fit-ups' and would like to try something like this as well! Dan
  13. Got in just after the chat was set up. No problems and had a great time!
  14. We bought grid racks from a local fixture supply company and matching "hooks" to hang our product. The only downside is that the grids can be heavy but they have worked very well for us for years.
  15. rotflmao......Sounds like your sitting on the toilet! Wood-n-things said "NOSE"!
  16. Many Thanks All! I've found several outlets!
  17. Does anyone have any idea where one can purchase 1/2" x 4 1/2" sanding sleeves for a Performax Oscillating Spindle Sander. I went to Menard's (where I bought the sander) and they acted like I had grown a 3rd head for wanting such a product - which they didn't have and had never heard of. They told me that they don't carry ANY sanding sleeves. Since I am unable to buy the sleeves the sander is, virtually, worthless to me. Needless to say, I will NEVER buy anything from Menard's again!
  18. Haven't seen it yet -- I, too, keep looking and hoping.
  19. Very nice, Wendy. I like the looks of your blog and could consider doing something like that as well. I, too, have cut a couple of the "Chickadee Clock" and I love it!
  20. Barry - No problem re: the name. My students (college) call me a lot worse I'm glad you could learn from my past problem. Have a great day! Dan
  21. Put the end you want to attach to the saw in as hot a water as you can stand (the blower hose will get hot!). After it is good and hot try to press it on. That's how I did it w/ my DeWalt.
  22. Linda, Could you give me a link to this pattern. I would love to buy it as we have a ragdoll cat and my daughter would love a portrait of him. I didn't realize that Knoxville, IA produced any cuttings other than NASCAR?!?!?! Just kidding Dan
  23. I keep 2/3 used blades, of each size, in a horseradish jar labeled "Used Blades". I use these blades for cleaning out small areas of my cuttings where I get really tiny pieces of sawdust, glue, 'finish', etc. stuck. They make great cleaning tools for small areas.
  24. I tried the spirals once and found I could get more accurate inside cuts with my table saw ! I know, "'tis a poor mechanic who blames his tools". I just couldn't get them to cut where I wanted! Love my FD flat blades.
  25. Tina -- I've cut a couple of "horse clocks" that you might want to look at as examples of things you could cut. They are at http://www.scrollsawvillage.com/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=lastupby&uid=316. Lots of luck and have fun. There are a lot of "horse" patterns out there!
