Happy, healthy, and prosperous New Year to all! My "biggest" goal for scrolling is Intarsia! Tried it a few times and wasn't happy with pieces fitting up very well. Watched some videos on youtube by ScrollSawParadise. Huge improvement for me! Finishing my 1st piece. Will post later when it's done. There are 6 videos on Intarsia, kinda long, but well worth watching!
My 2nd goal is to add 2 more craft shows to the 2 I do now.

I have heard of a few people making a living scrolling. I think it would depend on your abilities and just how much equipment you have. I can make a couple of hundred a month. I make book safes with my scroll saw and sell them through a couple of independent bookshops. Pics of how I make them are on my flickr site. I do some cut-outs for some local crafters who do craft shows. I do 6 craft shows during the holidays. Local church shows. One at a high school.
Also it depends on where you live. I am in a suburb of Akron, Oh. A large community area, meaning population. Rural area? Choices of outlets are a bit slimmer.
All together? Not really profitable. I couldn't make a living ( mortgage, healthcare, living expenses) scrolling. Retired and scrolling keeps me busy and sane! LOL!

Another source is hubgarage.com Fantastic source for any vehicle you can imagine. Easy to contact the owner of the vehicle. There is also artwork to get inspirations from.

This is a really great site! Really came a long way in a year! For all the members here, sure would like to see others post once in a while, even if it is just to say "Hi". I don't post real often, but I do post here, and there. Don't be shy!

I have been working with red oak, and poplar lately. Lowes is only 2 miles away. For all the ornaments I can get out of a 6"x 24" x 1/4", really profitable.

I do mostly portraits, people and cars are my favorites. When my soc. sec./va dis. ever gets approved, I will get some more equip., band-saw and a router, and start making my own frames and boxes. My goal this next year is to learn pattern-making, and some intarsia. Got a few ideas for some killer intarsia car patterns.

Now, that sure would be handy to be able to drill and saw at the same table! My ultimate saw would have an air system to suck up the sawdust instead of blowing it into the air.

Thank you so much, Christina! You always have some really neat, and creative ideas you share with everyone. I have a couple of craft shows coming up, but have this inlay on my to-do list!

Those rings are so COOL !!! Thank you, Christina, for sharing the sites!
What finish did you use on the one you did, Christina? Any special glue for the layers?
