  1. Happy, healthy, and prosperous New Year to all! My "biggest" goal for scrolling is Intarsia! Tried it a few times and wasn't happy with pieces fitting up very well. Watched some videos on youtube by ScrollSawParadise. Huge improvement for me! Finishing my 1st piece. Will post later when it's done. There are 6 videos on Intarsia, kinda long, but well worth watching! My 2nd goal is to add 2 more craft shows to the 2 I do now. Paul
  2. I have heard of a few people making a living scrolling. I think it would depend on your abilities and just how much equipment you have. I can make a couple of hundred a month. I make book safes with my scroll saw and sell them through a couple of independent bookshops. Pics of how I make them are on my flickr site. I do some cut-outs for some local crafters who do craft shows. I do 6 craft shows during the holidays. Local church shows. One at a high school. Also it depends on where you live. I am in a suburb of Akron, Oh. A large community area, meaning population. Rural area? Choices of outlets are a bit slimmer. All together? Not really profitable. I couldn't make a living ( mortgage, healthcare, living expenses) scrolling. Retired and scrolling keeps me busy and sane! LOL! Paul
  3. A gross is a dozen dozen, or 12 dozen. Amazingkevin, did you get my pm? Paul
  4. Another source is hubgarage.com Fantastic source for any vehicle you can imagine. Easy to contact the owner of the vehicle. There is also artwork to get inspirations from. Paul
  5. This is a really great site! Really came a long way in a year! For all the members here, sure would like to see others post once in a while, even if it is just to say "Hi". I don't post real often, but I do post here, and there. Don't be shy! Paul
  6. I have been working with red oak, and poplar lately. Lowes is only 2 miles away. For all the ornaments I can get out of a 6"x 24" x 1/4", really profitable. Paul
  7. I do mostly portraits, people and cars are my favorites. When my soc. sec./va dis. ever gets approved, I will get some more equip., band-saw and a router, and start making my own frames and boxes. My goal this next year is to learn pattern-making, and some intarsia. Got a few ideas for some killer intarsia car patterns. Paul
  8. Well deserved, Dale! And thanks to Mike for the sponsership! And you, Travis for a great site! Paul
  9. Now, that sure would be handy to be able to drill and saw at the same table! My ultimate saw would have an air system to suck up the sawdust instead of blowing it into the air. Paul
  10. None of my biz, but if you have a checking acct., just get a debit card. No fees, or re-loading hassles. Use it just like a credit card anyplace. Paul
  11. That really came out great! Paul
  12. Great work there, greasemonkey! You really do some excellant work! Paul
  13. Plan on spending time in the shop today and Monday. Going to my sister's on Sunday for a family get-together. Hope everyone has a fun and safe holiday! Paul
  14. I used Olsons for years. Tried the FD's, and hooked on them now! Paul
  15. Updated my profile. Fun to do!
  16. That would be impossible for me to name one! So many talented designers here, and other forums! Paul
  17. Well done, and a great idea, Vector. Could also move the name to the front and use as a biz card holder, showing off your talents! Paul
  18. Excellant work! Has a really great effect! Looks perfect! Paul
  19. That is just so cool! Thanks for sharing the photos! Hope your family problems get worked out! Paul
  20. You do really great work, Mike! Glad your show did well. I did a small show last Sat., and only sold 1 item. People around me sold zip. Show was not promoted vey well. But I did make a couple of contacts. Paul
  21. That is really cool! I also like the material! Paul
  22. Congrats on the orders! Also looking forward to the pics! Paul
  23. Those are pretty neat, grease. Great for the junior biker! You have a great blog spot, too! Paul
  24. I get all of my blades, and birch ply from Sloans. Great people to deal with! I just don't care for using spirals. Paul
  25. Welcome to the village! I also use a footswitch I picked up at Harbor Frieght. They have 2 kinds. The one to use is press on for power, lift off to stop. The other is press on for power, press on again to stop. That one does not last long, and more hassle to use. I think Sears quit selling them. You will have more control when sawing because you use both hands to hold your work instead of using one hand to hit the off switch. For me, my scrolling is quicker, and much easier! Paul
