  1. Thanks Wichman, I saw those too, but was wondering if anywhere you can combine multiple sizes to get gross quantity instead of have a full gross of just one size... if that confuses everyone LOL I may just give them a call directly as well and ask that question
  2. Hello everyone... I used to get all my blades from Sloan's Woodshop, but since they are no longer in business, I am attempting to locate somewhere that sells them reasonably. There I could make up a gross amount from multiple sizes of blades to make it a little cheaper. Did some searching in the previous forums and didn't have any luck. I see some at Peachtree Woodworking Supply, but are they really $4 per dozen now?? I haven't purchased any for quite some time, was thinking around $3 per dozen before, but I'm sure they've went up. Thanks for any suggestions!
  3. Awesome looking box!
  4. Very Nice! Thanks for sharing
  5. Think I prefer the second...
  6. Finally just about finished...got the final coats of varnish applied to the base and clock, then put on the crystals for the clock positions and glued the metal pieces in place. Still have to varnish the bottom of the clock and base, but decided to put them together temporarily and take a pic of them outside in the sun so the flash of the camera would not glare things out. http://www.scrollsawvillage.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-4158 http://www.scrollsawvillage.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-4157
  7. Finally getting them varnished...first coat pics are below, amazing how the varnish brings out the colors...second coat is on drying!! http://www.scrollsawvillage.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-4128 http://www.scrollsawvillage.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-4127
  8. Love the contrast of the purpleheart cross. Creative idea...turned out great! Thanks for sharing
  9. Hello to a fellow Kansan Joe...grew up in north central part until I went into the service. Go back to see family almost each year. Have fun and welcome!
  10. Slowly making progress...needless to say, don't see them getting done for Father's Day Here are some pics of the progress now....have both rough sanded and the mounting holes drilled for the bases. Now the fun, dusty part of getting them sanded smooth for varnishing. Going to put a few coats on so it has a good gloss to it. Pics really don't do justice to the way the walnut and maple will look with the finish on them...more to come.... http://www.scrollsawvillage.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-4116 http://www.scrollsawvillage.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-4115 http://www.scrollsawvillage.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-4114
  11. Well...one step closer on both clocks. Laid the copper and brass pieces on the wood and took a few pics to see how it looks. http://www.scrollsawvillage.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-4094 Deer http://www.scrollsawvillage.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-4095 Turkey The deer pattern is reversed from what the pattern actually is. I cut out the normally discarded pieces instead. Kind of a different look. Thought the letter being cut from different metal to the rest sets it off a little. More work to do!!....don't know if I'll get them done before Father's Day, but should be close. Thanks for the previous comments too!
  12. I agree...awesome!!
  13. work for corporate IT, so have to do a server upgrade, but going to try to squeak in some saw time!
  14. Tom, I know some don't like it and yes, it may be a little more expensive, but I use the self-adhesive paper from Sloans Woodshophttp://www.sloanswoodshop.com/misc_.htm to print my patterns on my printer. Then put it on the wood or metal and cut it out. On metal, I also cover the back of the piece with masking tape...seems to help lubricate the blade and make it last longer. For the most part, it comes off without much trouble, just don't leave it on for a week or more, then it gets stuck pretty good and leaves some residue. If you get residue, I've found that some masking tape applied after peeling the pattern off will pull the residue with it. That's my 2 cents...
  15. Thanks for the comments from all...very much appreciated!
