  1. Hi, I am new to this site. I just came across it yersterday via a link from another site. I live in London, Ontario I have been scrollsawing now for about 15 years. Prior to that, I worked in a furniture factory where I was using a bandsaw from day 1. Other than using a coping saw or jigsaw occasionally, I had no experience cutting wood. My wife made crafts for shows, and one day she asked if I could make a rocking chair for a bear she was dressing. I had no idea how to cut it, but my son said I needed a scrollsaw. I had never heard of that kind of saw, so I bought the cheapest one I could find. It all took off from there. Following a line was fairly easy after using a bandsaw for years. I made over a hundred collapsible baskets and sold them at shows. Now I enjoy doing extremely difficult patterms with lots of fine cutting. I often take a large pattern and reduce it to make a table coaster for someone. My daughter posted a picture of a lab puppy I had cut as a coaster on a pet forum, and now I have contact with a lady from Wisconsin who does pencil sketches of dogs, and she sends me some of her sketches to cut as a portrait to be framed as a gift. I like using hardwoods such as walnut, cherry or maple. I often teach Advanced Scrollsaw classes at the Lee Valley store here in London. Jim Cameron
