  1. Thanks, I thought there was one out there, wasn't sure if the photoshop one would work with elements. Thanks again.
  2. I just bought Adobe Photoshop Elements 7 to do some photo editing for some scrap books and websites for family. I'm not that familar with it yet, though I'm sure it isn't hard to figure out, as it seems to be the same way as gimp and inkscape. I got the idea that I could use this for pattern creating seeing that it has the same functions as gimp and inkscape. What I'm wondering is, does anyone here use it or know of a tutor somewhere so I could get familiar with it as far as for pattern making. Thanks again.
  3. Sounds Like Chris is ADDICTED to his hobby!!! Yep, I am. I need rehab...LOL... Not really, I love it. I'm trying to figure out how to put my big lathe in here now. LOL
  4. I agree Travis, I have mine inside also, the difference is mine is in my bedroom. I turned my bedroom into a woodshop with a bed. It works since I'm by myself. Don't have to worry about anyone telling me when or where I can cut. I use to be known to fall asleep at my work bench. That's when I decided to make it easier, move the shop to the room. I have a lot of hoses to an outside vac system. LOL.
  5. I'm also working on Christmas right now up until I became down in health. I'm hoping to get back to cutting soon. I have a lot of portraits to do. I decided to give everyone in my family a portrait of their choosing. I didn't realize the work that would lead to. I'm just glad I have a while to get them all done.
  6. My favorite thickness is 1/2". I like the way it shows depth. I then use a 1/4" for a backing. I usually stain the backer dark and either leave the portrait natural or use a light finish. I use to use oak up until I found I was going through a lot of blades, so now I use birch or other soft woods, I also found poplar to have a good finish when stained.
  7. Another way you can do nameplates is with the scrollsaw name printer. I can't remember the exact name or site to get it from, but I'm sure someone here does. It's an easy way to do name plates. Or I think so anyways. And a great thing about it is it's FREE!!!!
  8. Sorry about this, I got button clicking happy LOL. Here's the pattern.
  9. Here is another patriotic pattern for you all. This one was originally a historical picture I got from the "National Historic Site" here in Ft. Smith, AR a while back. I was going through my pattern disks and came across it. Again, this isn't posted for the contest, just posted here b/c of the type. Hope you all enjoy it.
  10. Ok, I had a few minutes to spare today so thought I would post a pattern for the contest. This is something I came up with this morning and worked on it all day. Couldn't do much today except lay around (having one of my bad days), so hope everyone likes it and enjoy cutting it. It might be a simple saying but means a lot. O yea, Travis, I posted this here b/c of the type of pattern but, I'm not entering it. I only wanted to post it.
