1. "Wow what a great saw".I bet you'll get lots of use out of it.It has more range compared to average saws.I like the saw cause of the blade clearence. You can cut thicker blanks.I'd like to get a saw like yours or a Hawk brand.Till then ill keep using my Dremel 1800.Enjoy
2. Your rite about thin material cutting fast.I cut alot of inlayed family portraits.I use either 1/4" or 1/2" birch plywood.I use alot of Olson #2 skiptooth blades too.It sounds crazy using a thin blade on thicker blanks.I do it because,I like the way the lines look.Plus its great for tight radius and detail.I may use 10 of the 12 blades that come with the package for one portrait, but results are good.Thicker blanks are good to cut, because your portrait will hold together better.Thats my opinion.I place all the cutout pieces back into the portrait too.I like to color stain them or paint them too.I use a hard board for the backing.I really like the effect of staining the cuttout pieces, because its like a real painting portrait. The way the colors come together really add something to the picture and with the grain pattern matching back up from the cuttout pieces is cool too.
3. Hey everyone, this post isnt nothing major. We all have little tricks we do to make things easyier or better for our saw.Heres a simple way of saving your tension handle.Sometimes people wear out the handle that holds the tension for the blade(The underneath side of the handle)I normally cut about 1/4"off of the blade before,I start. Its something simple but might help you."That way you get more use of your tension and blade".
4. Hey everyone,im Rick from Neoga,IL."Yeah, the midwest",lol.Ive been scrolling around 4 years. It al started when my dad went out and got a Craftsman 16" saw.He got me interested in scrollsaw work..I love to cut portraits.I mess with alittle bit of everything from fretwork to intarsia and everything in between.Dad got tired of me using his saw. So,I went out and bought a Dremel 1800 scroll station."I tell you its the main tool in my shop".I have a full shop, but after learning the scrollsaw,"everything else seems dull and obsolete".Scrolling is a way of life now, lol. After years of doing different projects.I decided to make my own patterns.Ive done family portraits and all kinds of different things."I just got tired of some scrollsaw mags".The subjects didnt interest me as much.I wanted to cut things you couldnt get from a scrollsaw mag.I draw alot, and use a simple software call Seriff photo plus and Rapid Resizer.Ive been thinking about tryng to setup at shows.but im still an amature .I need to find out what it takes.Ive went to shows, but "ive never seen stuff like,I cutout".I do alot of portraits where ,I put all the cutout pieces back into the picture.I dark stain or airbrush the cutout pieces."Well sorry to go on and on".Hey glad to be apart of a great group of people.Rick
