  1. If anyone has orderd this saw I would like some feed back its awfully cheap compared to evryone elses prices & it includes a stand & light ive decided to get it if its worth it the price is great $469:99 just want a good saw tired of the cheap junk just returned a craftsman 16 in there junk didnt run 20 seconds at a time then it would just stop has some kinda overload swith that kept shutting off & i was just using 1/4 in material i want a good saw so im gonna take a small loan out & get the dewalt just want some feedbac about the company if anyones bought thru them
  2. im disabled and cant afford a decent saw like the dewalt. A little over 200 is gonna have to be my price range for now I was looking at the craftsman 18 in for $219 ive already took back to home depot a 16 in ryobi pure junk. my local pawn shop has a 16 in. delta for $100 but its like the 16 in craftsman i have now a direct drive wonder if its worth it. has anyone used the craftsman 18 in & if so is it any count. Wish i had the money to afford dewalt 20 in but i dont I wonder if anyplace sells them used at a better price. I had and still have a problem with the tension knob on my 16 in craftsman direct drive but have found a way i can still use it for now ive took a strip of duct tape and wrap around the back side over the tension knob once i set tension and so far it holds the tension lol duct tape 9th wonder of the world cant fix it tape it lol just a pain to have to retape it each time anyway im ramling but if anyones used the 18 in craftsman let me know what you think of it . Guess i need to change my name from gone fishing to poorman lol.
  3. I needed a stand for my saw went to lowes found a heavy duty steel universal stand perfect for a 16 in. saw with about 5 in to spare plenty of bolt down holes but i just clamped mine to it has a large tray shelf but anyway it really cut down my vibration and so far I like it alot purchased it for 50 bucks well worth that to. Just thought id let youall know just in case anyones looking for a good stand.
  4. I tried these spirals out real quick last night but noticed in tight places it spliterd the wood using one fourth in. birch wood am i going to fast? or is there a secret to using them lol aanyone whos used them I could use some tips. Do i use tape or something like that would sure like to be able to use them I only have a 16 in. saw would be able to make larger projects. Anyway any tips would be greatly welcomed by the way if you havnt noticed i sure cant spell lol
  5. Wish i had found this site sooner lol And hey look at it this way all of us that are learning on cheap saws just think how good well be when we do get a high quailty saw to work with lol
  6. I became disabled a few years back used to be a damn good welder fabricator but after 2 back surgerys well there for awhile i became plum discouraged then this past year i came across an old craftsman scroll saw at my local pawn shop i had been doing some carvings with rotary tools & found i wasnt half bad at it so for 40 bucks i grabed the saw to try my hand at something new. And now i love scrolling this site has really opened up a whole new world for me thanks guys & gals Ive set up a little shop in what used to be my storage room & so far have been selling my stuff pretty good just think ive been way under pricing a lot of things but anyways thanks for all the great patterns & im here to stay lol
  7. First of all id like to thank all the pattern makers great job everyone. Im disabled & have been making up a bunch of different wood crafts to try to sell this spring because living on a disability check you barely get by. so my problem is i dont really know how to price these fretwork patterns. is their any sites that sell this kind of stuff so i can get a basic idea on how to price my crafts. And once again thanks for all the great patterns plan on making some patterns for the site soon myself.
  8. well im still learning the craftsman 16 in direct drive i have i was having problems with tension backing off as i scrolled so went & bought a ryobi 16 variable speed & guess what when the blade started getting a little dull it to lost tension but its because i dont have either saw mounted just been sitting them on top a piece of foam to reduce vibration and on a plastic fold out table which isnt very sturdy so its apparent that my saws are getting to much vibration i guess i need to build a mounting table I do have an old teachers metal desk which is super sturdy im wondering if i should mount my saws to it im disabled so really cant afford to buy a table to mount them to right away any suggestions would be grateful and was wondering if anyone else has had that problem from improper mounting i have some extra wood i could build a mounting table buy really dont know where to start im guessing it would have to be really sturdy to fix the vibration problem anyone have any plans for a mounting table or should i just use the metal table
  9. no im talking about the tension knob when i set the tension & start sawing it works itself loose have to keep stopping & reset tension
  10. I have a craftsman 16 in. direct drive scrollsaw and my tension screw keeps backing off as i saw cant find any kind of lock down on it any suggestions would be appreciated
