  1. Yes, it would be just great if we could earn a living by doing the scroll saw items! But, with the way the economy is, I haven't been able to sell anything for over 3 years. I used to be able to create custom patterns for people, and then cut the portraits, get them framed, etc. Then, no orders for anything.... The costs of the materials has gone up, and the idea of the postal costs to send things; and also to try to find the economical frames as before (all have gone up in price too). This has had me really bummed for the past year, as I hadn't made anything.... for which I really enjoyed it when I did create things... I, too am disabled, and the low income that I have to live on, along with my husband who also is on Social Security... can't do much in the way of making any kind of profit of anything! Pat
  2. Did as what was suggested - I have downloaded the 'trial' version of the Corel Paint Shop Photo Pro X3 software - for 30 days. Not wanting to spend the money on this, so I have gone for the trial. Well, I have absolutely NO IDEA how to figure out how to make patterns with this software. By any chance, could someone give me specific instructions (step by step) of what I take to be able to accomplish my creating patterns?? Would greatly appreciate it. I am so very LOST and if I can't create patterns, all the scroll sawing projects I wish to make, just can't happen. Thanks in advance! Patti
  3. Hi Brett I hope you remember me - lost contact with you as you seemed to have changed your e-mail. I am the one that used your Pope Paul pattern for all those parishes in Jamaica a few years back - all those people over there have seen your creation. Patti
  4. Thanks David I just downloaded the trial version of Corel Paint Shop Photo Pro X3 Hopefully, I will be able to figure out how to make the patterns. I am most definitely NOT computer/software savvy so this all confuses me. I have the Adobe Photo 4 and couldn't understand it at all Keep fingers crossed for me! Patti
  5. Hi Brett - thanks for answering. Have one question, are you from Austraila? Lost contact with a Brett from there - and from my knowing of that person (a couple of years ago), he was quite knowledgeable about allot of things, which you seem to be. Anyway, could you please tell me why I would need to get Coral Paint Shop Photo Pro X3 - is that like Paint Shop Pro 7 & 9? Or, does that mean I have to have this Pro X3 in order to be able to use the PSP 9? Looking forward to your reply! Thanks!
  6. I just recently bought a brand new HP computer and it has Windows 7 in it. Before, I had a computer with XP and the software of Jasc Paint Shop Pro 7 worked great on this, for I was able to create all my own patterns. As I downloaded this software into the new computer and tried to create a pattern - find that it is NOT COMPATIBLE with Windows 7. Been told that PSP 9 is very similar to the 7, but I would really like to know if this is compatible with Windows 7 or am I going to be going through all of 'no where' as I found out with PSP7. Sure don't want to spend that kind of money for software and find out it won't work. So, if anyone could possibly help me, and let me know about the compatibilities of such software w/Windows 7 I would greatly appreciate. And, we used to have 'dial up' while now we have Wild Blue Satellite. Thank you
  7. Well, my name is Pat Holtwick, as I reside in the far eastern County of San Diego, CA. I have been doing scroll saw work since 1998, as that is when I had my first scroll saw, which was a Craftsman 16". I excelled my talents on that saw, as I then graduated to an RBI Hawk (220) in 2003. It has been a great machine, as I do allot of silhouette portraits and other creative items. I am married to my husband, Bill as we have numerous animals on our place. They consist of horses, dogs, cats, chickens, ducks, guineas, goats......and welcome all stray animals that come our way. Great to live in a rural community. Glad to have found this site, too! Pat
  8. Just wanting to say, "Hi" as I am a new member on this site. Looking forward to some great times on this site. I have been scroll sawing since 1998, and I have the RBI Hawk (220) model, and really enjoy creating items on it. I also make many of my own patterns, and have made some interesting ones - as I had created one of Keith Carradine (actor) and he has this particular portrait hanging in one of his rooms, in his home. Quite a thrill to know that something I have created, that some one of the 'celebrity' status has it and can enjoy it. Looking forward to conversing with everyone, on this site! Pat
