Yes I try to do things differently and especially to have a practical side and when possible to make them from recycled materials.I belive that we the ''artists'' have the obligation to be the first to come up with ideas to transform the tons of garbage produced by society .The scroll saw cuts almost anything

    If I tell you that my scroll saw was under 50 Eur everybody will laugh.But,you have to know that is not only about the tool,it is more about your skills with that tool.Of course I would like an Excalibur or a Hegner but... I work with this scroll saw from more than 10 years,I did cut metal,plexiglass,plywood,hard wood soft wood,vinyl disc ...my fingers I changed the clamps in the first days after I buy it,pin blade is not an option for me. A photo with a scroll saw like mine;

    I do not remember but maybe the next video will help you. Those two counterweights were made by thin aluminium sheets,it's the only thing I remember...and the gears were cut from some laminate floor scrap ,6-8 mm,some HDF or MDF. BMO if you keep just a good sense proportion from drawings you'll figured out , after 2-3 attempts,where to put the pins to gain the best balance. More,on the E letter drawing you can see a small point,if you look better .

    I'm ''back'' on SSV thanks to Travis' tutorial video, on Youtube,about portrait making,this reminds me that I'm a member here :). About portrait making ... I have done mine on Paint Shop Pro 10 years ago,it was the only one I ever made,thanks to Arpop (old budy from FSSP).     There is no pattern available, 'cause it was not designed for scrollsaw. I saved some Inkscape drawings,at that time, I draw outlines from the photo.I put them here and I hope it will help you.How I see ,from my own file ,the gears were 12cm diameter.     Thanks for the nice words. The material is Alucobond,two layers of thin aluminium with some polymer between,6mm all.I am not a jeweler and the pieces are really very small for me too,but I have to try it. I have a magnifier and,you know, if something can be cut it must be cut

    Here I am after a long time LOL.. So this is what I cut and glued in the last few weeks.Inspiration comes from a designer.Rob Zinn,who call his lamps helliocentric.I start to work at this concept because these lamps are affordable in many shapes and colours.
